Job Title: Vascular Technician Location: RWJ New Brunswick, New Brunswick, NJ Department: Vascular Lab Shift: Evening Employment Type: Full-Time (Hourly) Pay Range: $50.91 - $62.55 per hour Job Overview A Vascular Technician is responsible for performing non-invasive vascular ultrasound examinations and physiological testing to evaluate patient circulatory systems, operating diagnostic equipment and analyzing blood flow patterns. Experience in a Vascular Laboratory Scheduling Requirements Full-Time Evening Shift On-Call availability required Essential Functions Ability to select appropriate equipment for specific test Perform appropriate tests according to laboratory protocol Assess correlation of test results with symptoms Consult with physician and perform additional necessary studies Check physician orders for specific test Clarify ambiguous orders with referring physician Evaluate indications for requested test per patient’s history Collect prescriptions, referrals and co-pays of outpatients when necessary Ensure timeliness of testing after outpatient registration Enter patient information into Laboratory database Adhere to departmental safety procedures during test Evaluate patient’s ability to tolerate specific test modality Perform physical assessment pertinent to vascular disease Maintain equipment and exam rooms in neat and orderly manner Inform supervisor of problem areas or equipment malfunctions Maintain professional attitude when dealing with patients and hospital personnel in other departments Notify referring physician of critical findings Discuss results with physician if requested Observe patient for discomfort or change in clinical status during study Obtain hardcopy documentation and compile data for record keeping and reporting Prepare preliminary report of results Consult with colleagues or Medical Director if results are confusing or ambiguous Report to work in a timely fashion on a daily basis Respond and arrive promptly when responding to on-call emergency Schedule procedures and maintain daily workload Seek out further training if warranted Meet continuing education status per ICAVL standards Other required responsibilities in order to maintain the standard of excellence of the Vascular Lab Be knowledgeable of, adhere to, and promote safe practices (including LeapFrog, Never Events, National Patient Safety Goals) Other Duties Please note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.
