Job Title: Shipping Clerk – 2nd Shift

Job Description

This role supports a busy distribution facility by accurately picking, packing, and preparing orders for shipment while using warehouse management systems and basic computer applications. You will work both independently and as part of a team to ensure orders are fulfilled correctly, safely, and on time, while adapting to evolving processes and learning new equipment such as forklifts.

Responsibilities

• Pick and pack customer orders accurately in a fast-paced distribution environment.
• Use a warehouse management system (WMS/ERP) to locate, process, and track inventory and orders.
• Operate basic PC applications and navigate computer systems to enter and verify order information.
• Scan parts and materials to ensure correct items are selected and properly documented.
• Work both with teammates and independently to fulfill daily shipping and receiving requirements.
• Lift and move parts into boxes and containers for shipment, including items up to 40 lbs unassisted.
• Follow paper-based order systems initially and transition to computer-based systems as processes evolve.
• Support shipping and receiving activities, including pulling orders, staging shipments, and assisting with fulfillment.
• Perform basic warehouse tasks such as cycle counting and general organization of inventory.
• Climb ladders and stand for extended periods while performing picking and packing duties.
• Learn and support forklift operations in the future as needed, following all safety procedures.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area in accordance with facility standards.

Essential Skills

• Experience in shipping and receiving within a warehouse, distribution, or fulfillment environment.
• Hands-on experience in picking, packing, order picking, and pulling orders.
• Previous exposure to warehouse, distribution, or shipping operations.
• Ability to use ERP or warehouse management systems (WMS) to process orders and manage inventory.
• Basic PC skills and ability to navigate computer systems for order entry and tracking.
• Familiarity with scanning parts and using handheld scanners or similar devices.
• Ability to stand on your feet throughout the shift.
• Ability to lift up to 40 lbs unassisted on a regular basis.
• Comfort climbing ladders and working in a physically active role.
• Ability to work effectively both with others and independently to complete tasks.
• Willingness to learn forklift operation in the future and follow safety guidelines.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Previous shipping or warehouse experience in a high-volume distribution setting.
• Experience using warehouse computer systems and basic office software.
• Familiarity with cycle counting and basic inventory control practices.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy when reading and fulfilling orders.
• Reliable attendance and the ability to work assigned shifts and occasional overtime.

Work Environment

This role is based in a distribution facility for a large national company, operating in a warehouse setting. The position supports multiple shifts, including one 3rd shift opening, with standard schedules of 7:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m., 3:00 p.m.–11:30 p.m., and 11:00 p.m.–7:30 a.m. The workweek typically runs Monday through Friday, with Sunday through Thursday schedules for 3rd shift. The role is generally 40 hours per week, with occasional mandated Saturdays during peak periods such as December and opportunities for voluntary overtime at other times. You will work on your feet for most of the shift, frequently lifting up to 40 lbs, climbing ladders, and operating in a busy warehouse environment. The facility uses ERP/WMS systems, handheld scanners, and basic PC workstations, with processes transitioning from paper-based to fully computerized systems over time. Dress expectations align with a typical warehouse setting, emphasizing safety and practicality.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Waterville, OH.

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $19.00/hr.
