Hospitalist, Hospital Medicine Division: Director of Research

Job Description

The Ohio State University College of Medicine and the Wexner Medical Center seek a Director of Research to join the Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Hospital Medicine . This tenure-track position offers academic rank and salary commensurate with experience.

Position Overview

The Division of Hospital Medicine is seeking an exceptional scholar to develop a nationally recognized research program. The Director of Research will lead efforts to expand research infrastructure and enhance the divisions focus on health services, quality improvement, operational excellence, and education .

• Research Leadership: Develop, implement, and monitor a research strategic plan.
\n
• Mentorship & Collaboration: Guide faculty, trainees, and students in research methodology, project execution, and publication.
\n
• Grant & Funding Support: Identify funding sources, facilitate grant writing, and foster collaborative research opportunities.
\n
• Administrative Oversight: Manage research budgets, staff, and research reports while serving on key committees.
\n
• Scholarly Contribution: Maintain an externally funded research program with impact on Internal Medicine and Hospital Medicine .

The Division of Hospital Medicine at Ohio State is a dynamic and growing department dedicated to providing high-quality, evidence-based patient care . With 170+ faculty and staff , the division oversees 16,000+ admissions and 149,000+ patient encounters annually across seven hospitals . \n Qualifications & Requirements \n

\n
• MD, DO, MBBS, or equivalent with formal training in a relevant discipline.
\n
• Ability to obtain a full medical license in Ohio .
\n
• Active, externally funded research program in basic, translational, clinical, or health services research.
\n
• Strong record of scholarly achievement , including publications and grant funding.
\n
• Experience in research mentorship .
\n
• Exceptional communication and organizational skills .
\n
• Collaborative research experience at local, regional, or national levels.
\n

• PhD, MPH, or equivalent experience .
\n
• Experience in research administration .
\n
• Editorial board experience or current journal editor.
\n
• Qualifications for Associate Professor or Professor rank
\n
