Operating Room Registered Nurse (OR RN)

Schedule: Monday-Friday | 8-, 10-, and 12-hour shifts available

Pay: $31.35-$46.59 per hour, based on experience

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Operating Room Registered Nurse (OR RN) to join a fast-paced, team-oriented surgical department in Manhattan, Kansas.

This opportunity is ideal for an OR nurse with strong orthopedic experience, particularly with total joint replacements and sports medicine. The facility also performs a wide variety of procedures, so candidates must be comfortable working across multiple specialties.

The department operates six OR suites and performs approximately 20 surgeries per day, with a strong emphasis on efficiency, teamwork, and high-quality patient care.

Schedule

Monday-Friday

No weekends

No required on-call rotation

No regularly scheduled holidays; seven paid holidays available to eligible employees

32-, 36-, and 40-hour workweeks available

8-hour shifts: 6:30 AM-3:00 PM

10-hour shifts: 6:30 AM-4:30 PM

12-hour shifts: 6:00 AM-6:00 PM

Earlier arrival may occasionally be required for early surgical cases

After-hours coverage may be available on a voluntary basis when needed

Key Responsibilities

Provide professional nursing care throughout the perioperative process.

Prepare operating rooms and supplies for scheduled procedures.

Pull and organize instruments and supplies for assigned cases.

Work collaboratively with surgeons, surgical technologists, anesthesia personnel, and other members of the healthcare team.

Support surgical procedures across multiple specialties.

Provide care for adult and pediatric surgical patients.

Demonstrate strong proficiency with orthopedic procedures, including total joint replacements and sports medicine.

Support cases involving orthopedics, ENT, GYN, spine, urology, cataracts, and general surgery.

Assist with room setup and terminal cleaning between cases.

Help maintain efficient patient flow and a safe surgical environment.

Provide break and lunch coverage as needed.

Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation.

Follow infection-control, patient-safety, and regulatory requirements.

Assist with Sterile Processing Department (SPD) activities when needed, including putting away instruments.

Participate in cross-training opportunities after orientation and demonstrated competency.

Required Qualifications

Active, unencumbered Kansas RN license.

ADN or BSN degree.

Current BLS and ACLS certification through AHA or ARC.

Previous Operating Room RN experience required.

Strong orthopedic surgical experience required.

Experience with total joint replacement and sports medicine procedures strongly preferred.

Familiarity with orthopedic systems such as Zimmer and Arthrex preferred.

Ability to work across multiple surgical specialties.

Strong communication, organization, teamwork, and adaptability.

Ability to thrive in a fast-paced surgical environment.

Meditech Expanse experience is preferred but not required.

Six-suite operating room department

Approximately 20 surgeries per day

Heavy orthopedic case volume

RN and Surgical Technologist assigned to each OR suite

Additional surgical technologist support available for complex cases

Float staff utilized when available for breaks and lunches

Hospital-laundered scrubs provided
