This is a fulltime Career Service (CS) Health Educator position working with the Department of Health in Lee County. This is a Health Educator position under the supervision of the Health Education Program Manager. The general duties of this position support all activities approved by the Florida Department of Health Department in Lee County directed toward reduction of risk for youth using tobacco of all kinds and promoting smoking cessation among youth and adults through the Lee County Students Working Against Tobacco (SWAT) chapter. This is a tobacco-free position. This position is classified as a sensitive position. Incumbent handles protected health information on a need-to-know basis following Florida Department of Health (FDOH), HIPAA and Information Security Policy, Protocols and Procedures. Employee abides by State/Federal laws governing health information. Responsible to maintain confidentiality, security, privacy, and integrity of protected health information. Incumbent may be required to work evenings, weekends and infrequent overnight travel supporting the SWAT program. Works closely with the Tobacco Prevention program staff on the coordination, implementation, and evaluation of all SWAT activities and events as outlined in the Bureau of Tobacco Prevention Program Work Plan and submits all SWAT related quarterly reports in the Automated Tobacco Activity Collection System (ATACS), special reports, end of the year reports, and other requests for information. Stays current regarding tobacco/electronic vaping/nicotine product trends and data reported on the Florida Youth Tobacco Survey and other pertinent statistical sources. Works closely with the Tobacco Prevention program staff to complete all quarterly program grant deliverables for all other required policy areas. Meets with supervisor and informs regarding results of accomplished and upcoming activities, successes, and challenges. Prepares annual Statement of Work and submits SWAT Advisor invoices quarterly for payment. Assists the SWAT Advisors with recruitment and retention of youth for SWAT Clubs in school and community-based settings. Collaborates with SWAT Advisors to develop meeting schedules that allows for the training, planning, and implementation of regular tobacco control events and activities. Maintains an organized record for each SWAT club that includes all agendas, meeting minutes, event preparation materials, permission forms, and any other resource necessary to support SWAT clubs. Develops agendas and records meeting minutes for each SWAT club meeting. Maintains flexible and convenient hours for SWAT youth (example: after school and on weekends if necessary). Identifies and provides education and training on effective tobacco prevention and control strategies for students, SWAT Club members and Advisors. As required, participates in regional and statewide SWAT calls/webinars and reports updates to Tobacco Health Education Program Manager, SWAT youth and SWAT Advisors. Prepares and facilitates tobacco prevention presentations including educational and policy initiative presentations to schools, summer camps, civic organizations, community meetings and workshops when necessary. Serves as liaison between the staff of the School District and the Department of Health in Lee County on all SWAT activities. Coordinates county-wide youth led tobacco prevention events, including activities for recruitment of new youth. Facilitates and coordinates transportation for youth members to trainings, meetings, and events. Attends the Tobacco-Free Lee Coalition partnership meetings and reports on the progress of SWAT activities and events. Participates in community outreach events. Performs other duties as assigned.

- Ability to locate information that is listed alphabetically & numerically.
- Ability to follow instructions.
- Ability to review data for accuracy & completeness.
- Ability to work independently or with minimal supervision.
- Ability to serve as a resource specialist on tobacco-related issues.
- Ability to educate, empower, and train youth on effective tobacco prevention and control interventions.
- Ability to write professional documents, reports, and e-mail communications.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Possess a valid driver's license and have a motor vehicle to perform duties.
- Must not use tobacco / nicotine products.
- Ability to work evenings, weekends or travel out of the county to support youth activities.
