Senior Construction Accountant

We’re working with a highly respected, employee-owned AEC firm based in Chicago that is looking to add a Construction Accountant (or Senior) to their growing team. Chicago, IL - On-site, Flexible Summer Fridays Why This Role Stands Out 100% Employee-Owned (ESOP) – directly share in the firm’s success Strong work-life balance – half-day Fridays + hybrid flexibility Full project lifecycle exposure – from budgeting to billing to financial analysis Established platform – 100+ year track record across construction, architecture, and engineering Growth-oriented culture – leadership development + professional reimbursement What You’ll Be Doing Own project accounting across multiple active jobs (cost tracking, budgets, financial performance) Prepare and review client billings and invoices Manage subcontractor payments, retainage, and lien documentation Partner closely with project managers to ensure financial alignment Analyze job cost reports and investigate variances Support project-level financial reporting and forecasting Maintain accurate, compliant, and well-organized financial records What They’re Looking For Bachelor’s degree in Accounting 5–7+ years of experience, ideally within construction or project-based accounting Strong attention to detail with a problem-solving mindset Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment Strong communication skills and ability to partner cross-functionally Nice to Have: Experience with Procore and/or Deltek VantagePoint Advanced Excel / Microsoft Office skills Competitive base salary + discretionary bonus 401(k) + Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) Flexible benefits + transportation support Generous PTO + paid holidays Parental leave + Employee Assistance Program #J-18808-Ljbffr Connect Search, LLC
