Medical Director – Transplant Hepatology

Banner University Medicine and the University of Arizona Tucson invite applications for a visionary leader to serve as Medical Director of Transplant Hepatology. The role will lead a growing team of hepatologists, partnering closely with transplant surgeons, anesthesiologists, intensivists, and other multidisciplinary team members to advance a rapidly expanding and academically vibrant abdominal transplant program.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the clinical and strategic lead for transplant hepatology, collaborating with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and intensivists.
• Build and shape the future of the transplant program, including development of robotic organ transplantation, living donor liver transplant, and auto‑islet transplantation.
• Engage deeply in academic research and mentorship, supported by the BIO5 Institute and the Boyer Liver Institute.
• Lead program‑building efforts, maintaining clinical excellence and fostering academic scholarship.
• Provide protected time for leadership, research, and teaching, with faculty appointment at the University of Arizona College of Medicine.

Qualifications

• Board certification in Gastroenterology and Transplant Hepatology.
• Demonstrated leadership in multidisciplinary liver transplant care.
• Strong commitment to clinical program building, academic scholarship, and mentorship.
• Interest or experience in living donor transplantation, advanced liver therapies, and clinical trials is highly desirable.
