Multi-Licensed Pharmacist In Charge Opportunity
A specialized opportunity is available for a multi-licensed Pharmacist In Charge (PIC) to join a closed-door mail order pharmacy operating out of Gaithersburg, MD. This part-time role offers a consistent schedule on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7 AM to 3 PM, with the possibility of an additional day in the future. The position spans 13+ weeks and requires a collaborative professional ready to work within a strong team of six technicians and fellow pharmacists.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily pharmacy operations, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations specific to long-term care pharmacy.
- Supervise pharmacists and pharmacy technician staff, maintaining workflow efficiency and medication dispensing accuracy.
- Review and approve prescriptions to confirm safe and effective therapy for patients.
- Maintain quality assurance programs, manage controlled substance compliance, and uphold pharmacy policies and documentation standards.
- Collaborate with facility staff and healthcare providers to support optimal medication management and timely delivery.
- Potentially assist with sterile compounding tasks in the clean room if qualified and comfortable in IV/compounding environments.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Active Pharmacist license in Maryland and at least several of the following states: Alabama, Arkansas, California, Louisiana, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Oregon, Texas (candidates with most licenses are encouraged to apply).
- Minimum of 2 years managing pharmacy operations.
- At least 2 years of recent experience in long-term care or mail order pharmacy settings.
- Sterile compounding experience is a plus but not mandatory.
- Availability for an immediate start.
