This executive leadership role is responsible for leading day-to-day transportation operations, workforce management, service delivery, regulatory compliance, customer satisfaction, and strategic operational initiatives. Key Responsibilities of a Vice President of Operations - Transportation:Executive Leadership & Operational Strategy

• Provide strategic leadership and oversight for all transportation operations.
• Develop and execute operational strategies that support safety, efficiency, customer satisfaction, and organizational growth.
• Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and accountability measures to drive operational success.
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on service delivery, operational consistency, and business performance.
• Serve as a key advisor to executive leadership on operational planning, expansion opportunities, and strategic initiatives.
• Ensure transportation operations align with company objectives and long-term growth plans.

Transportation Operations Management

• Oversee daily transportation operations, service delivery, scheduling, routing, and resource allocation.
• Develop strategies to maximize service reliability, operational efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
• Monitor operational performance and implement action plans to improve productivity and service quality.
• Standardize operational processes and best practices across all locations and business units.
• Ensure adequate staffing levels and efficient utilization of personnel and resources.
• Support operational scalability and growth through effective planning and execution.

Service Excellence & Performance Optimization

• Establish and maintain high standards for customer service and operational performance.
• Analyze operational data and performance trends to identify opportunities for improvement.
• Develop initiatives that enhance on-time performance, service reliability, and customer experience.
• Drive operational excellence through data-driven decision-making and process improvement.
• Collaborate with department leaders to ensure seamless service delivery across the organization.
• Champion innovation and operational best practices that improve performance and efficiency.

Safety, Compliance & Risk Management

• Promote a culture of safety throughout all transportation operations.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local transportation regulations.
• Oversee operational safety programs, driver compliance, and risk management initiatives.
• Monitor safety performance, incident trends, and compliance metrics.
• Implement corrective action plans and risk-reduction strategies.
• Maintain adherence to company policies, industry regulations, and operational standards.

Financial Management & Strategic Planning

• Partner with executive leadership to develop annual budgets, forecasts, and long-term operational plans.
• Manage operational expenses and identify opportunities to improve profitability and efficiency.
• Analyze operational and financial data to support informed business decisions.
• Lead planning initiatives that support market growth, service expansion, and operational excellence.
• Ensure responsible management of company resources and assets.
• Drive performance improvements that positively impact revenue, customer retention, and operational results.

Leadership & Team Development

• Lead, mentor, and develop directors, managers, supervisors, and operations leaders.
• Build a high-performing culture focused on accountability, teamwork, customer service, and continuous improvement.
• Support workforce planning, succession planning, talent development, and employee engagement initiatives.
• Foster collaboration across operations, dispatch, customer service, maintenance, safety, and leadership teams.
• Develop future leaders through coaching, training, and professional development programs.

Qualifications for a Vice President of Operations - Transportation:Required Qualifications

• 7+ years of senior leadership experience in transportation operations, logistics, mobility services, passenger transportation, or a related industry.
• Proven success leading large-scale transportation or operations organizations.
• Strong understanding of transportation operations, scheduling, routing, service delivery, workforce management, and performance optimization.
• Experience managing multiple operational locations, departments, or business units.
• Knowledge of transportation regulations, safety programs, compliance requirements, and risk management practices.
• Experience managing budgets, operational KPIs, forecasting, and strategic planning initiatives.
• Exceptional leadership, coaching, and team development abilities.
• Strong communication, stakeholder management, and relationship-building skills.
• Strategic thinker with strong analytical, financial, and decision-making capabilities.
• Results-driven leader committed to safety, service excellence, innovation, and operational performance.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Transportation Management, Logistics, Operations Management, or a related field.
• Experience within passenger transportation, transit, taxi, paratransit, shuttle, or mobility service industries.
• Demonstrated success leading organizational growth and operational transformation initiatives.
