Service TechnicianPalmer, AK | Iconic American Brands | Flat-rate | Veterans encouraged to applyThe Service Technician is a skilled professional responsible for diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing all types of automotive problems. You'll be the heart of the service department, using your technical expertise and problem-solving skills to ensure vehicles are running smoothly and safely.Responsibilities:Diagnose vehicle malfunctions using diagnostic tools (scanners, multimeters, pressure gauges, etc.)Inspect engine, transmission, brakes, electrical, and other vehicle systemsPrepare repair plans with cost estimates and obtain customer authorization before starting workRepair and replace faulty components per manufacturer specifications and service manualsTest completed repairs to confirm functionality and safetyDocument all repairs and parts used on service ordersCommunicate technical issues clearly and professionally to customersProvide accurate repair estimates and timelines; keep customers updated throughout the processStay current on automotive technologies and repair procedures through ongoing training and certificationsPerform maintenance and repairs ranging from routine services to complex engine or transmission overhaulsMaintain a clean, organized, and safe work areaConduct test drives to evaluate vehicle performance as neededResearch technical information and consult service manuals or colleagues on complex repairsRecommend preventative maintenance to customers when appropriateSupport a positive, efficient service department team cultureQualifications:Demonstrates a high "HQ" (Hospitality Quotient) consisting of kindness & optimism, intellectual curiosity, work ethic, empathy, self-awareness, and integrity.Minimum of 2-3 years of experience as a Service Technician or related automotive repair experience. Completion of an automotive technician training program or equivalent experience preferred.Valid driver's license with a clean driving record. Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certifications is a strong plus.Strong understanding of automotive systems, diagnostics, and repair procedures.Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills.Manual dexterity and the ability to perform physical tasks (lifting, bending, reaching).Good communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with customers.Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.Benefits of Working at Swickard:Career Path – Swickard isn't just a J-O-B.
