Job Summary

Manages comprehensive medical nutritional care for patients, including nutrition assessment, development of nutrition care plans, dietary modification, nutrition education, and all activities related to the nutritional needs of the patient/client population.

Essential Functions

Based on multiple criteria, including assessments of nutritional needs, physicians' orders, clinical data, interdisciplinary health care plans, and standards for quality nutritional care that appropriately meet patients' age, psychosocial, and physical needs, the dietitian develops and implements a nutrition plan of care for patients.

Documentation of all nutrition-related information, including assessment, nutrition therapy recommendations, care plan, follow-up data and changes, diet consultation results, discharge planning, daily clinical activities, and other related orders and pertinent information.

Counsel, educate, and develop resources and materials to educate patients, families, & caregivers on prescribed therapeutic diets.

Partner with food service staff to ensure meals, supplements, and nutrition support is provided; review patients' menu selections to monitor compliance with modified diets.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's Degree required.

Licenses and Credentials: Dietitian and Nutritionist [State License] required

Registered Dietitian [RD/RDN] - Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) required

Experience: Completion of dietetic internship required

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Good communication skills. Ability to effectively evaluate and problem solve. Ability to work independently. Ability to guide, teach, and motivate all patient age populations.
