About the role:

We are seeking an AI/ML Engineer to join BPM's Enterprise Technology Solutions team. This role is for a builder — someone who doesn't just experiment with AI but makes it work inside the firm at scale. You'll take AI tools and models and embed them into BPM's day-to-day operations, ensuring they deliver real business value.

In this role, you'll design and develop AI-powered applications — from chatbots and copilots to workflow automations — that streamline processes across Tax, Assurance, Advisory, and our Corporate Services Team. You'll partner with teams to spot opportunities where AI can cut manual effort, increase accuracy, and speed up delivery, then turn those opportunities into working solutions.

You'll be part of standing up a brand-new AI-focused development team, not only building solutions but also shaping the team's processes, tools, and standards. Key Responsibilities:

• Model Development: Design and evaluate AI/ML models tailored to BPM use cases (e.g., tax AI bot, Copilot extensions).
• Data Engineering: Prepare and manage structured and unstructured datasets, ensuring quality inputs for training and evaluation.
• AI Integration: Build and deploy AI features into BPM systems and workflows, using tools like Copilot Studio, Azure OpenAI, and Power Platform.
• Automation: Deliver automation solutions that streamline operations and reduce manual effort for Tax, Assurance, and Advisory practices.
• Collaboration: Work closely with IT, business stakeholders, and data governance teams to identify use cases and ensure solutions align with firm goals.
• Experimentation & Innovation: Rapidly prototype AI solutions, test emerging tools, and recommend best practices for adoption.
• Governance & Quality: Apply responsible AI practices, ensuring models are accurate, explainable, and compliant with BPM's standards.

Required Skills & Experience

• Strong background in machine learning, data science, and applied AI.
• Proficiency with Azure OpenAI, Copilot Studio, and Microsoft ecosystem tools.
• Experience building chatbots, copilots, or similar AI-driven automation.
• Solid programming skills with Python.
• Knowledge of MCP (Model Context Protocol) is a plus.
• Experience preparing datasets and building ML pipelines.
• Familiarity with product development lifecycles and agile delivery practices.
• Security-conscious mindset with knowledge of data protection best practices, especially when working with sensitive or regulated data.
• Strong problem-solving skills with ability to translate business needs into AI solutions.
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills to work across technical and non-technical teams.
• Ability to explain complex AI concepts simply to stakeholders.
• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field along with at least 5 years of related work experience

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with cloud platforms (Azure preferred)
• Familiarity with frameworks and libraries such as OpenAI SDK, Azure AI SDK, LangChain, and Pandas.
• Knowledge of enterprise data governance, compliance, and responsible AI practices.
• Prior experience in professional services (accounting, consulting, or similar) a plus.

$150,000 - $190,000 a year This compensation range provided is intended for candidates in Ontario, Canada, who meet the requirements of the position. Candidates who do not reside in Ontario, do not meet the minimum requirements, or exceed the requirements are encouraged to apply and a recruiter will provide you with a range specific to your location and qualifications. In accordance with Ontario's pay transparency legislation, the posted compensation range, if applicable, will reflect the scope and responsibilities associated with the role. Positions supporting clients across multiple jurisdictions involve additional regulatory considerations, cross-border coordination, and broader compliance requirements compared to roles focused on a single local market. Hours of work and travel expectations may vary based on role scope and are considered in determining compensation. These factors, along with credential requirements and market benchmarks, are incorporated into compensation ranges to ensure alignment with industry standards and the specialized expertise required. Compensation includes base salary and any non-discretionary bonuses or commissions. If the top of the compensation range exceeds $200,000 annually, specific details will be provided during the recruitment process instead of being posted, in compliance with legislation.
