Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Medical-Surgical Telemetry Float Pool position requiring an active MA RN license, Level I trauma experience, and prior travel nursing experience.

Details

• Float Pool position supporting 15 medical-surgical units within a 600-bed hospital
• Specialties covered include neurology, cardiac, bariatric, general medicine, general surgery, GYN, GU, hips and joints, oncology, transplant (liver/kidney), and vascular
• Patient ratios average 4:1 on days and 6:1 on nights
• Rotating 12-hour shifts including days, evenings, and nights; schedule alternates between one 12-hour shift and three 8-hour shifts within a 4-week period
• 36 hours per week with shift start/end times of 7:30 PM to 7:00 AM for the 12-hour shifts
• Every other weekend and holiday coverage required
• Unit assignments may change every 2-3 weeks, with some assignments given as little as 2 hours before shift start
• No on-call requirements
• Unit-specific procedures include 12-lead EKGs, Lasix drips, blood transfusions, and telemetry monitoring
• Respiratory Therapy manages ventilators; RN responsible for administering nebulizers
• Epic EMR experience required

Requirements

• Active MA RN license required in hand at time of consideration
• Minimum 3+ years of related RN work experience required
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Level I trauma center experience required
• Teaching hospital and specialty area expertise preferred
• Current certifications: CPR/BLS (AHA) and ACLS (AHA)
• Epic EMR experience required
• Basic computer proficiency and ability to navigate web-based applications required
• Must pass Tele/ECG and Medication competency testing
• Required vaccinations: COVID (including booster) and Flu, with medical exemptions allowed

Additional Information

• Provide medical-surgical and telemetry nursing care across a rotating float pool assignment covering multiple specialty units
• Weekly orientation held every Monday, barring holidays
• Any color scrubs permitted
• Public transportation available; on-site parking may cost up to $43 per day
• RTO requests must be submitted at time of consideration and cannot exceed 4 days, with no blocked scheduling or specific recurring days off approved
• Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility; local candidates will not be considered
• Previous employees of any Beth Israel Lahey Health facility must have a 6+ month break in service before returning
• First-time travelers are not being considered for this position due to the prior travel experience requirement
