Job Summary:
The position is for a Perinatal Nurse specializing in Labor and Delivery (L&D) located in California. This role involves working within a Perinatal Float Pool, providing care across multiple units, including Labor and Delivery, Postpartum, and Hillcrest Labor, Delivery, and Postpartum (LDRP). Candidates are required to bring their license on their first day.

Job Details:

• Location: La Jolla, California
• Schedule: Shifts are 12 hours, primarily during daytime hours, with a minimum of 36 hours per week. There is a requirement to work one additional overtime shift per two-week period, with shifts scheduled biweekly.
• Certifications: Valid California State License, ACLS, AWHONN Advanced, AWHONN Intermediate, BLS, Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), BSN (Bachelor of Science in Nursing). Certifications must be renewed every 2 years.
• Additional Qualifications: Must have at least two years of combined Labor and Delivery and Postpartum experience, with demonstrated competency in both areas. Requires current experience in a hospital setting and familiarity with Epic electronic health record system.
• Float: Float rotation may be required, as the nurse will work across three different perinatal units.
• Special Procedures and Skills: Administration of blood and blood products, adult cardiac arrest management, amnioinfusion, antepartum care, anticoagulation therapy, antihypertensives, antiseizure medications, APGAR scoring, assistance with high-risk deliveries, vaginal deliveries, baby-friendly protocols, neonatal resuscitation, and more.
• Patient Population: Neonates, adolescents, and adults, including high-risk obstetric patients, multiples, pre-eclampsia, gestational diabetes, cardiac patients, high-risk postpartum, high-risk newborns, late preterm infants, drug-exposed newborns, and those requiring specialized interventions.
• Additional Information: Will be floated among periatal units, including Labor and Delivery, Postpartum, and Hillcrest LDRP, as needed. Candidates must be willing to work on call and to cover weekends, with four shifts every four weeks or every other weekend based on unit needs.
