Lead Accountant

A well-established, family-owned organization with diversified business lines spanning food & beverage, real estate, and event operations is adding a newly created Lead Accountant role to its growing accounting team. This is a rare chance to join a lean, high-visibility finance function early and help shape how the company reports and operates as it modernizes its systems and processes. You’ll join a growing accounting leadership team and take full ownership of the accounting for a multi-location business unit, partnering closely with each location’s General Manager on budgets and P&L performance. What You’ll Do Own the full trial balance for the food & beverage business unit — cash, AP, AR, accruals, CIP/fixed assets, inventory, and prepaids. Post and reconcile daily POS revenue across multiple locations, ensuring accuracy between point-of-sale systems and the general ledger. Lead monthly close and work to shorten the close cycle while improving the accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting delivered to location GMs. Perform P&L variance analysis and partner with GMs to explain results and flag trends. Identify unusual transactions, investigate root causes, and propose and implement fixes — this role owns processes, not just journal entries. Navigate multiple systems as the team works toward modernizing its tech stack over the next 1–2 years. Build a big-picture understanding of the business beyond the books, acting as a trusted finance partner to non-finance stakeholders. What We’re Looking For Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance. 5–8 years of progressive accounting experience; ideal candidates are currently a Senior Accountant or Accounting Manager who still wants to be hands-on with journal entries and reconciliations (not fully removed from the details). Demonstrated experience owning an entire trial balance, not just pieces of it. Strong P&L variance analysis experience. A self-starter who can manage multiple locations/budgets simultaneously and stay organized amid competing priorities. Comfort working across legacy and modern systems during a transition period.
