Surgical Tech - Certified Surg Tech

Surgical TechnologistWe are seeking a Surgical Technologist to assist in the operating room for OB procedures. The successful candidate will aid in surgical procedures by setting up tables, instruments, and supplies required for cesarean sections, vaginal deliveries, and circumcisions. The technician will maintain sterile techniques while assisting in draping patients in the operative area. They will prepare, pass, and maintain a correct count of instruments, sutures, sponges, and supplies. This position includes maintaining appropriate stock and equipment inventories in the department and patient rooms. The surgical technologist will respond to patient calls, anticipate patient needs, and ensure patient safety and comfort through regular rounds and environmental maintenance. Personal and professional growth is expected through participation in unit meetings and continuing education programs. The role includes assisting in the orientation of new staff and participating in unit quality improvement activities. Vital signs and intake and output will be recorded and reported to the registered nurse. Nursing procedures that do not require the skill or judgment of a licensed professional may be performed as directed. Clerical duties such as assembling charts and packets and entering charges will also be part of this role. The technician will assist with environmental services duties including turning over rooms and operating room cleaning as needed. Point of care testing may also be required. The unit features 16 labor and delivery beds and handles approximately 400 births per year. All duties must comply with established policies and procedures. Candidates should have experience in c-sections and maintaining a sterile environment. Flexible scheduling is required and will include weekend and holiday coverage as needed. This position does not require floating between units.
