THERAPIST LISW/PCC ASSOCIATE

Position Summary The Associate Therapist functions as a member of the Samaritan Behavioral Health - Preble County team to assist in the planning, development, and delivery of outcome‑effective treatment services. The therapist plans and delivers outcome‑effective clinical, case coordination, intervention, prevention, consultation and/or mental health services to pediatrics and their parents, and the agencies that serve them. Services are provided both within this agency and in the community, in families’ homes, in schools, and other social service agencies necessitating transportation. Job Qualifications & Experience Required Master’s degree in a relevant social science field. Licensed in the state of Ohio as a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) or Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW). Training and experience in the types of services provided by the team, with age‑appropriate competency, using the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM‑5, TR or subsequent revisions). Excellent written and verbal communication skills with children, parents, and professionals to provide information regarding the children’s needs, strengths, and the development of appropriate services. Physical abilities required that include sufficient mobility and strength to lift/carry 15 pounds, language skills, and ability to utilize emergency physical interventions. Working Conditions and Expectations Generally a pleasant physical environment, though may include frequent interruptions, difficulty controlling office temperatures, heavy workload demands and constantly changing regulations and standards. Required to talk and/or hear, sit, stand, walk, use hands for finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms; specific vision abilities required include close, distance, and peripheral vision and the ability to focus visually. Some flexibility in scheduling is expected; may require working different days/hours or staying beyond the normal shift. Must be able to work cooperatively and effectively within a team with strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills. Demonstrated ability in basic computer literacy skills. Influenza vaccination required on an annual basis. Physical harm may result from aggressive or physically ill clients; aggressive client training and adherence to universal precautions helps to minimize risk. As applicable to job duties, valid Ohio driver’s license and/or dependable private vehicle is required. As applicable to job duties, crisis de‑escalation training required on an annual basis. As applicable to job duties, maintain current certification in First Aid and CPR. Job Duties Demonstrate adherence to the PHP/SBHI Patient Experience philosophy, guidelines, and tools. Demonstrate strong ethics, honesty, and adherence to PHP/SBHI Code of Conduct and Compliance Program. Schedule and complete direct face‑to‑face assessments within a timely manner according to departmental standards and productivity expectations. Provide other direct, face‑to‑face, clinical services to clients via individual, family, day tx/PH and group therapies according to departmental standards and productivity expectations. Collaborate with referral sources, internal team members, and external service providers to ensure appropriate client care and continuity of care. Provide case management and CPST services to coordinate clinical care in the form of face‑to‑face, telephone calls, report writing and case conference meetings. Provide clinical services within a client‑centered and strengths‑based approach, consistent with the philosophies of YCATS and applicable accreditation organizations. Complete all clinical documentation within set time frames per program guidelines. Demonstrate clinical knowledge and skills relevant to the clinical service and intervention method provided to both pediatric clients and their families. Daily maintain scheduled appointments and other workload activities on the electronic scheduler according to SBHI standards. Seek psychiatric/physician consultations regarding medical needs of clients and maintain ongoing communication with psychiatrists/physicians for the purpose of coordinating and evaluating client care. Demonstrate knowledge of SBHI and YCATS clinical records and other paperwork standards, and apply competencies in both the provision and documentation of clinical records. Demonstrate compliance with departmental standards for administration and reporting of outcome measures and documentation of utilization management of clinical care. Demonstrate knowledge of regulatory standards and ensure that clinical records are maintained in compliance with these standards at all times. Participate and complete monthly peer reviews. Ensure productivity standards are met consistently as applicable to departmental standards. Demonstrate knowledge of information technology policies and procedures and apply them to the documentation of clinical care according to medical records and other departmental standards. Demonstrate best practice techniques in daily clinical work and plan clinical service delivery in accordance with a strengths‑based treatment approach discussed with and approved by program director. Participate in the research, strategic planning, and implementation of activities to promote departmental services, including decentralized locations and new service initiatives. Meet regularly with supervisor and as needed to review clinical care of clients according to licensing body, SBHI standards, and administrative needs. Build effective relationships with external recipients of consultation services and demonstrate a collaborative approach to consultation services. Present a positive image of YCATS and SBHI by demonstrating behaviors consistent with those of SBHI; engage customers/clients and facilitate access to therapeutic services as needed. Respond within departmental timeframes to failed activities and alerts. Proactively provide communication regarding any problematic issues within CareLogic or other billing and documentation processes to supervisor. Ensure releases of information are obtained for outside entities providing services to the client and initiate communication regarding client progress in other settings. Maintain regular communication with client caretakers to facilitate treatment goals and to assess client and family’s commitment to treatment.
