Responsibilities Performs general assembly operations under the GL with minimal technical supervision, including printed wire board assembly, conformal coating, potting, ultrasonic cleaning, coil winding, evacuation & backfill, component forming, wire wrapping, painting, assembly mechanism timing or shimming, and fabrication of rigid and semi‑rigid cable assemblies as required by program or process. Performs intricate and specialized assemblies such as micro‑precision assemblies, clock escapements, electro‑mechanical, and disc assemblies as required by program or process. Conducts in‑process testing, such as bench and leak testing, and sets up and adjusts production tools and equipment, including air presses, staking tools, and precision measuring instruments. Works from blueprints, assembly drawings, routing sheets, mil specs, verbal instructions, written process descriptions, and visual work instructions. Assists engineering in developing verbal, written, and visual work instructions. Sets up and operates standard assembly processing and test equipment such as ultrasonic cleaners, BTU ovens, EB or laser welders, potting and extrusion equipment, leak detectors, centrifuges, mechanically fixtured testers, multimeters, and subassembly test stations with LabVIEW or equivalent software. Performs in‑process testing, environmental testing, and final acceptance testing (ATP). Attains and maintains security clearances and certifications as required by programs or processes, including ESD, explosive handling, explosive lead install, Molykote, brazing, D17.1 welding, and soldering (IPC J‑STD‑001) across general, wire, printed wire board, wave, induction, surface mount, and critical disk head soldering as required. Demonstrates basic computer knowledge and use of word processing and spreadsheet applications. Documents and records results of completed testing and rework of products, interprets and analyzes data to determine causes of component, subassembly, or system failures, and takes appropriate action to rework components and ensure proper operation of equipment. Makes recommendations regarding modification of assembly processes and demonstrates the capability for using Standard Measuring Equipment (SME). Works with engineering personnel on the general maintenance of test equipment, process optimization studies, and tooling improvements. Supports company initiatives including ISO 9000 and Statistical Process Control (SPC), ensuring continuous improvement of policies, procedures, and products. Assists in guiding, directing, and training employees in various assembly operations as needed or directed. Remains flexible and willing to work in various work cells depending on company need and reports unusual circumstances or conditions to supervisor as required. Qualifications Education: High School or Equivalent with 5 years in a manufacturing environment. Experience: 5+ years in manufacturing assembly. Supervision: Minimal supervision.
