The Clinical Research Coordinator plays a key, patient-facing role in coordinating complex oncology clinical trials, with a focus on stem cell and cellular therapy studies. This position involves screening, consenting, and enrolling patients on oncology trials, managing source documentation, entering data, and ensuring protocol compliance throughout the course of therapy. The coordinator spends most of their time in clinic, working closely with physicians, nurses, and other clinical staff to support cutting-edge research and novel treatments, while maintaining accurate documentation in the electronic medical record and ordering necessary labs and procedures.

• Screen, consent, and enroll patients onto oncology clinical trials and follow each patient throughout the course of their therapy.
• Conduct pre-screening and chart review to identify eligible patients based on protocol-specific inclusion and exclusion criteria.
• Manage source documentation thoroughly and accurately, including maintaining detailed records of study visits, procedures, and patient-reported outcomes.
• Document clinical trial activities in the electronic medical record (EMR) and ensure that research-related information is properly captured.
• Order labs and coordinate research procedures that fall outside standard clinical care, ensuring they are completed according to protocol requirements.
• Spend the majority of time in clinic seeing patients alongside the physician, attending patient visits, and ensuring all questionnaires and study forms are completed.
• Work with clinic staff to make and schedule appointments such as EKGs, vitals assessments, and other protocol-mandated procedures.
• Ensure strict protocol compliance by monitoring timelines, visit windows, and required procedures so that all trial activities occur within the correct timeframe.
• Collaborate closely with nursing staff, medical assistants, infusion nurses, and other clinical team members to coordinate patient care and study-related activities.
• Partner with clinical staff responsible for obtaining insurance authorizations to support timely initiation and continuation of therapy.
• Perform data coordination tasks, including accurate data entry into study databases and resolving data queries in a timely manner.
• Participate in quality control activities to ensure data integrity, adherence to regulatory requirements, and consistency with protocol and institutional standards.
• Coordinate multiple complex oncology stem cell trials, directly overseeing approximately two trials while serving as backup on additional studies as needed.
• Engage in cross-over duties to support other team members in the office, contributing to a collaborative and flexible work environment.
• Attend relevant meetings, seminars, investigator meetings, and conferences related to oncology and clinical research as appropriate.
• Learn and assist with lab processing tasks as needed, with training provided for specific procedures.
• Support aspects of billing responsibilities related to clinical research, with opportunities to learn more if desired.
• Maintain an enthusiastic, proactive attitude and contribute positively to a high-performing, research-focused clinical team.

• Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Clinical Research Coordinator (CRC), preferably in a clinical or oncology research setting.
• Demonstrated experience in clinical research, including screening and pre-screening patients, chart review, and patient recruitment.
• Proficiency in obtaining informed consent and explaining clinical trial procedures and requirements to patients in a clear and compassionate manner.
• Strong skills in source documentation, ensuring accurate, complete, and timely recording of all study-related information.
• Ability to work effectively in a patient-facing role within a busy clinic environment, spending significant time in direct interaction with patients and clinical staff.
• Experience with oncology clinical trials or oncology clinical studies, including familiarity with complex protocols and therapy-related procedures.
• Capability to manage multiple trials simultaneously, overseeing core coordination responsibilities while providing backup support on additional studies.
• Competence in using electronic medical records (EMR) for documenting research activities and coordinating patient care.
• Attention to detail and strong organizational skills to ensure protocol compliance, proper scheduling, and adherence to study timelines.
• Ability to collaborate with nurses, medical assistants, infusion staff, and other clinical professionals in a multidisciplinary team.
• Enthusiastic, positive attitude and strong interpersonal skills to build rapport with patients and colleagues and contribute to a supportive research environment.

• Experience with oncology stem cell or cellular therapy trials, particularly within highly specialized or niche research programs.
• Familiarity with lab processing procedures; prior experience is beneficial but can be taught on the job.
• Interest in learning billing responsibilities related to clinical research activities.
• Knowledge of protocol-driven scheduling for procedures such as EKGs, vitals, and other diagnostic or monitoring tests.
• Understanding of quality control processes in clinical research, including data verification and compliance checks.
• Eligibility and interest in pursuing CCRC certification, with exam costs covered by the organization.
• Eligibility for and interest in membership in professional organizations such as ACRP, with membership fees and certain conference-related costs supported.
• Interest in ongoing professional development, including attendance at investigator meetings, seminars, and conferences related to oncology and clinical research.
• Ability to thrive in a prestigious, cutting-edge research environment focused on novel oncology treatments and dedicated investigators.

This role is based within a specialized stem cell and cellular therapy program that manages its own therapy trials and operates a GMP facility for manufacturing cellular therapies. The environment is highly research-focused and centered on complex, niche oncology stem cell trials funded in part by a major regenerative medicine institute. Approximately 60% of the role involves study coordination, 25% data coordination, 10% quality control, and 5% other duties such as cross-coverage, meetings, and conference participation. The coordinator works primarily in a clinic setting, spending most of the day on-site with physicians, nurses, and other clinical staff, and is expected to be present for daily office and clinic visits according to the schedule. The standard work hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with some flexibility based on clinic needs. This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Sacramento, CA.

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $45.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
