School Nurse

The School Nurse provides nursing/health related services to the students and school community at assigned school(s). Responsibilities include responding to student health issues, assessing and planning health service programs, serving as a resource on health-related issues, developing health care plans, maintaining knowledge of health care procedures, participating in emergency care procedures, preventing and controlling communicable diseases, collaborating with health professionals, reviewing student health records, attending meetings, participating in team evaluations, serving as a liaison between the school, students, parents, and health care providers, coordinating health screening programs, monitoring compliance with state immunization laws, assisting with health care plans for special needs students, providing health care class instruction, maintaining contact with school staff regarding health-related issues, administering first aid and emergency care, monitoring medication administration, ensuring delivery of school health services, maintaining confidentiality, participating in professional development, coordinating referrals for health problems, and assisting with health related attendance problems.
