Full-time House Assistant

Burton Center is looking for a dedicated and compassionate individual to fill the role of a fulltime House Assistant. Our organization was created in 1971 to provide essential services to individuals with disabilities and special needs and to offer much needed assistance to their families. Over the last five decades, we have been able to expand our range ofservicesand widen our range of services. With locations in Abbeville, Edgefield, Greenwood, Lexington, McCormick, Ware Shoals, and Saluda counties, Burton Center's staff of 325, assists over 500 people. Our services are provided free of charge to those who meet specific eligibility criteria by the South Carolina Office of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities. We offer Day Programs, Residential Services, and Employment Placement Programs. About the Position This is a first shift, full-time position. Regular business hours will be Monday - Friday from 8:00am - 5:00pm with on-call hours as needed. As a House Assistant with Burton Center, you will be able to support adults ages 21 and up with disabilities and special needs across three residential homes. This role ensures each home is safe, well-maintained, and aligns with each individuals' support needs. You will be responsible for completing routine safety checks, restocking groceries and personal hygiene supplies, and assisting individuals on routine shopping trips, appointments, and budgeting. While demonstrating a positive and professional attitude, you will also train and support Direct Support Professionals (DSP) to implement Individual Support Plans effectively for each adult. You will also be responsible for creating schedules that are adequately staffed, modeling the best practices in care, communication, and teamwork, and interacting with individuals' family members in a warm, professional manner. Staying organized and completing online progress reports, goals, and daily notes in a timely manner will ensure compliance with Burton Center, federal, and state policies and procedures. This position requires hands‑on support, reliability, and a commitment to developing and discovering unlimited potential in adults with disabilities and special needs! Required Qualifications: SC Driver's License Ability to lift or maneuver up to 50lbs, One year of experience in leadership, customer service, or similar role Ability to pass SafeServ Food Handler course Ability to work in a fast-paced environment Ability to stand or walk for long periods of time, Excellent oral and written communication skills Preferred Qualifications: SafeServ ceritified One year of experience with adults with special needs or disabilities How To Apply Please apply online through Burton Center's website at under Employment Opportunities.
