Spherical CNC Process Engineer_ Wilton Factory Optics

Introduction to the jobThis position is for a highly skilled, innovative, and motivated Process Engineer to join the ASML Wilton Factory Optical Fabrication team. This role supports daily manufacturing operations, drives continuous improvement, and partners closely with engineering, quality, and production teams to advance equipment capability and product performance.Role and responsibilitiesChampion a safety-first culture by identifying potential hazards, implementing risk mitigation strategies, and ensuring all work adheres to established EHS safety protocolsDevelop complex spherical optics on precision CNC Generators, High-Speed Polishers, and centering machine.Implement advanced machining strategies and tooling designs for continuous improvement efforts.Optimize cycle times, toolpaths, feeds/speeds, and work holding to improve quality and throughput.Collaborate with cross-functional teams including production, quality, and metrology to resolve technical challenges and implement sustainable solutionsDiagnose and resolve machining issues related to tooling, fixturing, programming, and equipment behavior.Partner with maintenance and vendors to address machine performance, repeatability issues, or reliability concerns.Analyze machining performance using SPC, capability studies, and data-driven problem solving.Define process specifications and control limits; utilize statistical analysis tools (e.g., JMP, Minitab) to evaluate process capabilities and drive data-driven decision-making and maintaining 6P=P from feasibility to production-readiness phasesPerform hands-on process trials and support qualification of new equipment, materials, and process changes to enhance production performance.Support root-cause analysis and corrective actions for quality deviations or nonconformances.Drive 5S and workplace organization around CNC areas.Education and experienceBachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Optical, Materials, or related field)Minimum 10+ years of experience in optical fabrication process engineering or a related manufacturing environmentHands-on experience with optics fabrication techniques, including CNC machining, polishing, and surface inspectionProficient in root cause analysis (RCA) and lean manufacturing toolsFamiliarity with metrology techniques and quality assurance in optics manufacturingDemonstrated ability to lead problem-solving initiatives and implement process improvementsExcellent communication and teamwork skills, with ability to work effectively across different departmentsAbility to manage multiple priorities and deliver results under tight deadlinesSkillsManufacturing of spherical or plano optical elementsKnowledge of Design of Experiments (DOE) and Six Sigma methodologiesSolid Modeling Software, NXCAM Software, MastercamProficiency in data analysis tools such as JMP, Minitab, or equivalent softwareExperience with SAP or MES systemsKnowledge of cleanroom protocols and practicesOther informationThe physical demands described below represent those required to successfully perform the essential functions of this Process Engineer role.
