Mammographer

Performs correlative breast examinations and documents scars, moles, and pertinent findings. Provides individualized breast self-examination instruction and discusses the importance of an annual clinical breast examination performed by a qualified healthcare provider. Identifies all patients properly by using two patient identifiers, reviews patient history and assesses physician orders, and documents patient history in electronic record, as required. Performs mammography procedures, including proper application of breast compression, positioning, and a variety of special mammography views to maximize the diagnostic quality of the examination. Prepares patient for mammography procedure and tends to the physical safety and comfort of the patient. Demonstrates the ability to communicate instructions to patients in a clear and concise manner, and explains procedures to help allay the patients' fears and solicit their cooperation.
