Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position in Monroe, NC, requiring at least 18 months of Med/Tele experience and an active NC or compact RN license.

Details

• Work in a 45-bed Surgical/Med-Tele unit at a 174-bed community hospital in Monroe, NC
• Patient population includes general surgery, orthopedics, COPD, stroke, diabetes, and other general med-surg diagnoses
• RN patient ratio is 1:5-6
• 12-hour night shifts (1900–0700), 36 hours per week
• Every other weekend rotation required
• No on-call responsibilities
• Floating required within Region 2, which includes Pineville, Anson, Union, Union West, and Central Division (CMC Main, CMC Mercy, and Levine Children's Hospital) — candidates who are not agreeable to floating should not apply
• EMR: Epic (experience required)
• IV pumps: Alaris; medication dispensing: Omnicell; monitors: Philips
• Schedules are created on a 6-week cycle

Requirements

• Active NC or compact RN license required
• Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
• Minimum 18 months of Med/Tele RN experience required, with most recent experience within the last year
• Proficiency in general Med-Surg skills including IV starts, drain/tube management, wound care, NGT placement, and central line management
• Experience managing non-titrating cardiac drips (Cardizem, Amiodarone), Heparin drips, and blood products required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration
• Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN

Additional Information

• Provide nursing care to a mixed med-surg and telemetry patient population, including post-surgical and medical patients
• Centralized telemetry monitoring is available 24/7 on the 4th floor for all units
• Unit support includes CNAs, a receptionist/HUC, a charge nurse (typically without a patient assignment), a Team Lead resource nurse, a phlebotomy team, an IV/VAT team, respiratory therapy 24/7, and hospitalist coverage 24/7
• Orientation includes NEO plus 2 days of departmental orientation
• Travelers are expected to work 75% of assigned holidays
• Up to 6 days of RTO may be approved, excluding holidays; any unmet contracted hours must be made up at the end of the contract
• Navy scrubs required
• Free parking available on-site
• Permanent address must be located at least 50 miles from the facility; local candidates are not accepted
• Former permanent employees of any AHSE facility must have been separated for at least 1 year before being eligible
