Automation Engineer

Required Skills & Qualifications

• 3 years of experience in software engineering, backend development, or systems integration.
• Strong proficiency in scripting and backend languages (Python preferred) and designing robust RESTful APIs.
• Experience integrating complex enterprise systems (e.g., SAP, Salesforce, ERPs) with custom-built internal tools and databases (SQL, PostgreSQL).
• A "forward-deployed" mindset: you thrive in fast-paced, ambiguous operational environments and bias toward shipping practical, iterative solutions that solve immediate business needs.
• Exceptional cross-functional communication skills, with a proven ability to translate messy operational realities into precise technical specifications for enterprise engineering teams.
• Prior work experience at client or in client's Industry

Preferred Skills & Qualifications

• Previous experience working closely with supply chain, logistics, fleet management, or hardware-in-the-loop operations.
• Experience with AWS cloud infrastructure and deployment pipelines.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

• Build Operational Automation: Design, develop, and deploy lightweight automation scripts and microservices to optimize daily scheduling and dispatch workflows, significantly reducing manual data entry and system latency for our operations coordinators.
• Lead Technical Integrations (WP1/WP2): Serve as the engineering anchor for critical internal integration projects. Architect the backend connections required to seamlessly sync disparate systems, including custom ops dashboards, vehicle telemetry databases, and enterprise platforms.
• Partner with Enterprise Engineering (BizApps): Act as the technical Subject Matter Expert (SME) representing FleetOps. Partner with our central BizApps team to translate highly complex, AV-specific operational constraints into actionable architecture requirements for our SAP FSM implementation.
• Pave the Way for AI: Architect and route operational data pipelines that operate outside of standard off-the-shelf enterprise tools, building the robust data infrastructure required to eventually plug into dynamic, machine-learning-based scheduling algorithms.
• Drive Rapid Solutions: Sit side-by-side with operations teams to identify workflow bottlenecks, rapidly prototype technical solutions, and deploy tooling that delivers immediate operational ROI.
