Citizens Panel Review Coordinator Assistant Part Time - Juvenile Court CLASSIFICATION TITLE: Citizens Panel Review Coordinator Assistant (Part Time) Purpose of Classification This is a professional work in coordinating the activities of volunteers who serve the court’s Permanent Homes for Children Program. This position requires a great deal of initiative with a minimum of supervision. This individual is under the direct supervision of the Citizens Panel Review Coordinator. Essential Functions Works with the Department of Family and Children Services in preparing and presenting reunification plans to parents/guardians wishing to have children returned to their homes. Maintains files on all children in foster care placement; maintains the court’s master list and updates it monthly; maintains a list of panel members, their addresses, and telephone numbers; by the 1st of each month, obtain from DFACS the list of cases to be reviewed the following month, check this list with the court’s master list and follow up if there are any inconsistencies. Schedules review times and transmits proper notification to DFACS, sending out notification letter or memo (on court’s stationery) to all parties at least two weeks prior to the review date, and sends copies to the appropriate caseworker(s). Pulls and court orders germane to the case, obtains from DFACS a 30‑day case plan and current six‑month review form, and completes any information which is available such as name, date of birth, etc.; makes copies of current case review forms for each panel member. Facilitates each panel review by providing information of a technical nature when asked and occasionally serves as a mediator when a conflict arises between parties to the review. Ensures DFACS sends proper notification to the court when a case conflict arises or when a case has been closed, notifies the reason for closure, forwards closed case information to the Georgia Council of Juvenile Court Judges, and obtains findings from panel inquiries from the media and other interested persons regarding the Permanent Homes for Children Program. Additional Functions Performs other related duties as required. Minimum Requirements Bachelor’s degree in social work, child welfare/development, or related field preferred; experience as a Citizen Panel Review volunteer preferred. Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver’s license. May be required to work up to 25 flexible hours per week between 8 a.m.–5 p.m. ADA Compliance Physical Abilities: Tasks require the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (5–10 pounds). Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or work station. Sensory Requirements: Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate colors or shades of colors, sounds, and visual cues of signals. Some tasks require the ability to communicate orally.
