Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a night shift Oncology/Women's Surgical position in Asheville, NC, requiring 2+ years of experience and an active Oncology (ONC) certification.

Details

• Works on a 24-bed Oncology/Women's Surgical unit (9K) on the 9th floor
• Night shift schedule: 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM
• Patient ratio of 1:4 or 1:5
• Unit procedures include occasional pelvic exams, echo, and thoracentesis
• EMR: Cerner
• Staff required to work 6 weekend days per schedule
• On-call is rare
• Floating to other med/surg units is possible but uncommon
• 13-week contract

Requirements

• Active NC or compact RN license required
• BLS certification required (AHA or ARC accepted; must not expire within the first 30 days of the assignment start)
• ONC (Oncology Nursing Certification) required for all RNs working in oncology
• Minimum 2 years of recent RN experience in oncology required
• No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
• US SSN and date of birth required for consideration
• One professional reference required

Additional Information

• Unit team includes a Charge Nurse Coordinator (CNC), 4–6 RNs, 2 CNAs per shift, and a Health Unit Coordinator (HUC) on days
• Cerner experience is beneficial given the unit's EMR system
• RNs are required to wear navy, white, or a combination of both colors
• Chemo certification is preferred and candidates with it will be considered first
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not eligible
