Client Accounting Associate

The Opportunity We are looking for a Client Accounting Associate who is hands‑on, detail-oriented, and genuinely skilled in both bookkeeping and tax preparation. This is a ground-level role with a real, defined path forward. If you know QuickBooks Online well, have prepared individual and business tax returns, and want to grow toward a client‑facing accounting management career — this role was built for you. You will work across a portfolio of small business clients, handling full-cycle bookkeeping and tax preparation. Over time, as your client knowledge deepens and your performance is consistent, you will take on direct client relationships and move toward a Client Accounting Manager role. What You Will Do Full-cycle bookkeeping for small business clients in QuickBooks Online Record and categorize transactions, reconcile bank and credit card accounts, maintain the general ledger Manage accounts payable and receivable entries Process payroll entries and reconcile payroll reports Prepare monthly and quarterly financial statements for client review Identify and correct discrepancies in client books Tax Preparation Prepare business returns: S-corporations (1120‑S), partnerships (1065), sole proprietors (Schedule C) Assist with IRS notices and tax agency correspondence Gather and organize client tax documentation at intake Support senior staff on complex tax situations and planning conversations Client & Team Support Communicate with clients on bookkeeping questions, tax document requests, and return status Coordinate with offshore support staff on data entry and transactional tasks Maintain organized client files, deadlines, and task notes in our practice management system What We Are Looking For Required 2 – 5 years of bookkeeping or accounting experience with hands‑on QuickBooks Online work Demonstrated experience preparing individual tax returns (Form 1040) with common schedules Experience preparing at least one business return type: 1120‑S, 1065, or Schedule C filers Strong bookkeeping fundamentals — reconciliations, journal entries, chart of accounts, financials Able to manage multiple client deadlines simultaneously without dropping detail Clear, professional communicator in writing and in person — clients will hear from you Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field Strongly Preferred Multi-client firm or public accounting background Comfortable with AI‑assisted tools and willing to learn new workflows EA, CPA, or active progress toward either — not required, but valued What We Offer Salary: $68,000 – $80,000 based on experience Health, Dental, and Vision Insurance 401(k) with company matching Performance‑based incentive program Mentorship from an IRS Enrolled Agent and experienced CFO team A defined path to Client Accounting Manager — not a dead‑end position Growth Path This role is the entry point — not the ceiling.
