About the Role:

The Registered Nurse (RN) for the Inpatient Unit (IPU) working per diem night shifts from 7 PM to 7 AM plays a critical role in delivering high-quality patient care during overnight hours. This position requires the nurse to provide comprehensive nursing assessments, administer medications, monitor patient conditions, and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure continuity of care. The RN will be responsible for responding promptly to patient needs, managing emergencies, and maintaining accurate documentation in compliance with healthcare regulations. Working independently during night shifts, the nurse must exercise sound clinical judgment and prioritize patient safety at all times. Ultimately, this role ensures that patients receive compassionate, effective care throughout the night, supporting positive health outcomes and smooth transitions to daytime care teams.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the United States.
• Completion of an accredited nursing program (Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Nursing).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Minimum of one year of clinical nursing experience, preferably in an inpatient or acute care setting.
• Ability to work overnight shifts (7 PM to 7 AM) on a per diem basis.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• Experience working in inpatient units, particularly in medical-surgical or critical care environments.
• Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner.
• Strong communication and patient education skills.

Responsibilities:

• Perform thorough patient assessments and monitor vital signs regularly throughout the shift.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, ensuring adherence to safety protocols.
• Respond promptly to patient calls and emergencies, providing appropriate interventions.
• Collaborate with physicians, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care plans.
• Document all nursing care, patient responses, and clinical observations accurately and timely in electronic health records.
• Educate patients and families on care plans, medications, and discharge instructions as needed.
• Maintain a safe and clean environment by following infection control and safety standards.
