Through partnerships with conservation agencies, youth and young adults gain the personal and professional skills needed to carry out a variety of stewardship projects, from which they can earn a stipend, high school credit, and/or an AmeriCorps educational award. NYC also operates an accredited charter school, internship program, and the Idaho Conservation Corps(ICC).Position SummaryThe Communications Coordinator assists in the development and management of social media, website, and recruitment campaigns for Northwest Youth Corps and their suite of programs. The Communications Coordinator will develop more public awareness about Northwest Youth Corps' ongoing programs and recruitment efforts needed to support those programs.This position is an active member of the Communications and External Affairs Team and will work to both showcase the various conservation programs we operate as well as help attract the next generation of conservation heroes by managing targeted recruitment campaigns.Position DetailsDepartment Supervision and collaborationsThis position is supervised by the External Affairs OfficerThis position works closely with Programs and Member Services departments to promote program activities and recruitment initiativesRisk Management responsibilitiesMeet criteria/certification for utilizing vehicles, tools and/or any NYC propertyEssential Duties and ResponsibilitiesCreate compelling video, photo, and written communications content for social media, websites, recruitment campaigns, promotional emails, and additional communications materialsManage social media channels by posting new content, responding to messages and comments, and creating Stories, Reels, and/or posts in accordance with communications goals.Assist with online recruitment campaigns by creating and sending mass emails and publishing and managing content/position descriptions to social media and webpages.Help to establish and coordinate a communications and recruitment campaign calendar to maintain consistency and accountabilityAssist with the preparation, editing, and printing of communications materials such as reports, brochures, fliers.Update company websites and online postings.Assist in managing company photo and media library.Position Qualifications & CertificationsPassionate about creating meaningful content with an eye for designExcellent interpersonal skills and professional demeanorExcellent writer and proofreaderFamiliarity with social media and content creationExperience with video and graphic design software, including Adobe Creative Suite and Canva, or willingness to learnWillingness to learn new systems and software as neededAppreciation for working with young people from diverse backgrounds and collaborating with project and community partnersComfortable hiking, camping, and being outdoorsPhysical Demands/Work EnvironmentWhile performing the duties of this job, with or without reasonable accommodation, the employee is required to stand; walk; use hands to handle, feel or operate objects, tools or vehicle; reach with hands and arms; sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk, hear; and smell repeatedly.Complies with all attendance and punctuality standards in addition to following all organizational policies.This Position Description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee. This is a full time, hourly position. Typical hours are Monday - Friday, 8:00AM to 5:00 PM, with periodic long days and/or evening and weekend responsibilities seasonally.
