Histotechnologist

The Medical University of South Carolina seeks a Histotechnologist to join our Laboratory Services team in Healthcare & Medical Services. In this on-site role, you will process, embed, cut, and stain tissue specimens using routine, special, and immunohistochemical techniques to support accurate diagnosis, research, and education. You will maintain quality and regulatory standards in a high-volume academic medical center, collaborating closely with pathologists and trainees. Gross, process, embed, cut, and stain tissue specimens for diagnostic review Perform routine, special, and immunohistochemical stains using manual and automated methods Ensure specimen integrity, accurate labeling, and thorough documentation in the LIS Maintain and calibrate histology equipment; perform and document quality control Collaborate with pathologists, residents, and lab staff in an academic medical environment Follow CAP, CLIA, and hospital safety standards to ensure regulatory compliance Support education, research, and process improvement initiatives within Laboratory Services Microtomy (paraffin and frozen sections) Tissue embedding and processing Routine and special histochemical stains Immunohistochemistry (IHC) techniques Specimen accessioning and labeling Use of automated histology instruments Laboratory information system (LIS) use Quality control and troubleshooting Biosafety and infection control Regulatory and accreditation compliance Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance Life Insurance 401k ASCP HT or HTL certification (or eligibility) Knowledge of CAP/JCAHO lab standards CLIA compliance familiarity #J-18808-Ljbffr ACHE
