Habilitation SpecialistAt Hands of Heartland, we believe that people with developmental disabilities are people first. We are looking for compassionate and caring individuals to join our team as a Habilitation Specialist to provide care to the individuals we support at the Laura Dester Children's Center (LDCC). The LDCC is an Intermediate Care Facility for Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities (ICF/IID) that serves 25 clients who do not require physical assistance with mobility or feeding. Most direct support work focuses on habilitation and behavioral management. You will work with children and adolescents who have developmental disabilities as well as behavioral support needs and mental illness.We are looking for empathic individuals who want to make a real difference in a person's life by coming to work every day! We are looking for enthusiastic, professional, caring people who know the value of communication. Flexible and willing to adapt to change. The level of support may vary depending on the needs of the individual. Must be 21 years of age, have a High School Diploma or GED, and a valid Drivers License. Must be able to pass a background check.What You'll Do:Provide direct care and support to children and adolescentsAssist with activities of daily livingImplement individualized care plans and follow specific protocolsSupport individuals in achieving their personal goals and promoting independenceTeach life skills, social skills, and daily living routines.Implementing behavior plans, de-escalation, data collection, emotional regulation support.Assist with medication administration and documentation as requiredMaintain a safe and clean environment for individualsProvide emotional support and companionship to individualsHours Needed:You can choose to work one of the following available shifts:6:15 am to 3:00 pm2:15 pm to 11:00 pm10:30 pm to 7:00 amWe do NOT hire part-time, PRN, or Weekend-only positionsSkills Needed:Experience in providing care to individuals with developmental disabilities or similar populations preferred but not requiredAbility to work effectively with people with diverse needs and backgroundsStrong communication skills to interact with individuals, families, and team membersAbility to work independently in a fast paced, team orientated environmentBenefits Offered:In addition to meeting your passion for making a difference in people's lives, opportunities you may also be offered:Starting pay of $19.10 per hourPay increase to $20.42 after 6 months of employmentShift differential of $1.00 per hour for hours worked between 6pm and 6amSign on bonus paid over 6 monthsPAID Training including becoming a Certified Nurse Aid (CNA)Medical, Dental, Vision, Disability, and Life BenefitsFlexible Spending Account (FSA)Paid Time Off – 30 days off per year
