Personal Care Management Skills Trainer

A community based Personal Care Management Skills Trainer for our Personal Care Attendant Program educates consumers on how to successfully manage their consumer‑directed hands‑on care. The Personal Care Management Skills Trainer will also be primarily responsible for other skills training department‑wide tasks and processes. Location: Taunton, Massachusetts and up to a 60‑mile radius of your home address. Compensation: $21 per hour. Work hours: Monday–Friday, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm (35 hrs/week). Mileage reimbursement available. Bilingual English preferred in all languages. Travel: required within a 60‑mile radius of your home address. Requirements: Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle to travel throughout the assigned service area. Training: 2‑day orientation in Stoughton in person, followed by 2–3 weeks of training in Stoughton. Key Responsibilities Follow up on assigned functional skills training in a timely manner, as determined by contract. Assess consumers and/or surrogates’ ability to manage PCA services. Train consumers and/or surrogates on the skills needed to manage their PCA program as outlined in the Mass Health Service Agreement and the Personal Care Management (PCM) Contract. Maintain confidentiality in all consumer‑related issues. Attend in‑service, supervision, and staff development meetings when requested by Supervisor or Manager. Demonstrate working knowledge of program policies and procedures and Mass Health regulations. Demonstrate commitment to the Independent Living philosophy of consumer control. Report suspected incidents of consumer sexual/physical abuse and neglect to the Disabled Person Protection Commission (DPPC). Complete and track required documentation within required timelines, including referral and intake documentation, service agreements, assessments for re‑evaluations, and supportive documentation. Return all phone calls from surrogates and consumers within 72 business hours. Complete and submit internal requirements such as Progress Notes, Dayforce, Outlook schedules, mileage and expense forms, and required email communications within specified deadlines. Follow up with Supervisor and/or Program Assistant on requests for skills training and tracking reports, including non‑billing, overbilling, and ineligible consumers. Provide training and ongoing support for Electronic Visit Verification (EVV). Address major problems requiring skills training, consumer status updates, and intake, quarterly, and annual reviews. Perform other duties as assigned by the Skills Trainer Supervisor. Qualifications Experience providing services for people with disabilities and knowledge of PCA programs is preferred. Experience or education in teaching or counseling is helpful. Knowledge of community resources and social service systems is beneficial. Excellent communication, organizational, and writing skills. Basic computer skills in Microsoft Office/Outlook and ability to navigate databases. Education Bachelor’s Degree preferred; GED or High School Diploma required. Physical Demands Regularly required to talk and/or hear. Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, and use hands to finger, handle, feel, and reach with hands and arms.
