Work Environment

This role is based onsite at our hospital facility in Toms River, where you will engage directly with patients in a supportive and collaborative atmosphere. Your typical work hours will be Monday through Friday, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with occasional flexibility required to accommodate patient needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Administer direct physical therapy interventions as prescribed by the supervising physical therapist, ensuring adherence to individualized treatment plans.
• Conduct therapeutic exercises, including strength training, balance instruction, and functional mobility training, tailored to each patient's condition.
• Guide patients through active and passive exercises, help with muscle reeducation, and facilitate training with mobility aids, such as crutches or canes.
• Utilize various physical agents—such as heat, cold, ultrasound, and electrical stimulation—to alleviate pain and promote healing.
• Document patient progress meticulously, including clinical notes and reports on responses to treatment, to maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records.
• Provide education to patients and their families on home exercises, injury prevention strategies, and the proper use of assistive devices.
• Engage in interdisciplinary collaboration and ongoing education through participating in training sessions and quality improvement initiatives.
• Assist in maintaining a clean and organized therapy environment in compliance with hospital safety and procedural standards.
• Perform any additional duties as may be assigned by the supervising physical therapist or other leadership staff.

Patient Population / Client Focus

This role primarily involves working with a wide range of patient demographics, from post-surgical rehabilitation to chronic pain management. You will collaborate closely with patients recovering from surgeries, injuries, or illnesses that impair their functionality. This focused attention aims to alleviate pain, restore functionality, and enhance their overall quality of life.

Qualifications

• Must have graduated from an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant program with an Associate's degree in Applied Science or an equivalent qualification approved by the American Physical Therapy Association.
• Current licensure or certification as mandated by New Jersey state law to practice as a Physical Therapist Assistant.
• Must hold valid CPR certification and maintain it throughout employment.
• Possession of a valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle with appropriate insurance coverage as required by the organization.

Preferred Experience

• A minimum of 2 years of experience in a physical therapy setting, preferably in a hospital environment.
• Broad knowledge of diverse patient conditions, treatment modalities, and rehabilitation technologies.
• Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) systems is a plus, as you will need to manage patient documentation effectively.

Compensation and Benefits
