This combination of technical expertise and an understanding of policy make Straughan a highly competitive firm and a great place to advance your career.The Senior Accountant will execute full-cycle accounting and monthly closing procedures, prepare financial statements, assist with audit preparations, set up projects, and provide accounts payable oversight. May also assist with preparation of client invoices and payroll functions. This range reflects the full span of qualifying experience and certifications for the role; final offers are commensurate with the selected candidate's experience level.Duties & ResponsibilitiesMonth-end closing procedurePrepare monthly accrual schedules and journal entriesReview & evaluate trial balance for accuracyPerform account reconciliationsReview trend income statement and evaluate for accuracyUpdate budget vs. actual reportsQuarterly reports and reconciliationsBank reports and covenant calculationsQuarterly 941 reconciliationsAdditional key account reconciliations and adjustmentsGSA reportingMD Sales and Use TaxYear-end W-2 and 1099 processesAssist with external auditsFinancial statement reviewOverhead rate auditsWorkers Compensation audits401(k) plan auditsMaintain project setup in UnanetAssist with setup of new projects in Unanet, coordinating with the Controller and Project ManagersEnsure all information from the project setup form is accurate and in accordance with the contract and proposalEnter relevant information in Unanet, including contract limitations, billing instructions, and people assignmentsPrepare various month-end project accounting reportsAssist with preparation of monthly project management report listAssist with the maintenance of various job status reportsAbility to discuss project financials with Project Managers and respond to related requestsPrepare monthly business unit reporting for DirectorsAccounts Payable ReviewReview account coding for accuracyReconcile credit card transactions and expense report submissionReview invoice coding for accuracyReview A/P Aging ReportUpdate cash flow tracking and projectionsBi-Weekly PayrollReview hours and rates for accuracyReview pay code summary, OT, and labor variance adjustmentsReview employee benefits and deductions for accuracyReconcile payroll accrual and expense accounts and prepare payroll accrual J/EProcess bi-weekly 401(k) contribution fundingAccounts ReceivableReview and post deposits and customer payment applicationReview of A/R Aging and coordination with A/R SpecialistsOther Responsibilities as neededRequirementsQualificationsEducation: Bachelor's degree in accountingExperience: Minimum of 5 years of relevant professional accounting experience.
