Location: Bad Axe, MI

Shift: Part time day shift with flexible schedule

Pay: $14.00 per hour

Reports To: Store Manager/Assistant Manager

Summary: The Front Counter Associate is responsible for assisting customers at the checkout with their in-store merchandise and outside lumber purchases. Other duties include, but are not limited to; greeting customers, stocking, cleaning and answering the store phone as needed.

Responsibilities:

• Greet and assist customers
• Wait on and ring up customers at the counter
• Check all customer loads from the lumber yard when ready to check out
• Promote project sales and merchandise.
• Assist in the stocking and pricing of merchandise according to operational guidelines
• Perform routine housekeeping tasks assigned by store managers as required to maintain the professional image and appearance of the store
• Participate in the completion of quarterly and annual physical inventory counts.
• Be alert to practices that waste supplies, utilities and time.
• As part of the Self Serve Lumber Team, you may be asked to attend any company/store functions or events.

Requirements:

• Minimum of one or more years of experience in a retail sales position
• Knowledge of the lumber/hardware industry is a plus, but not required
• Familiarity with retail sales, merchandising programs and procedures
• Good people skills and ability to promote sales
• Good communication skills

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift up-to 10lbs. frequently and/or up to 50lbs. occasionally
• Indoor and outdoor customer assistance in inclement weather at times
• Be able to sit or stand for long periods of time
