- Facilitate the AVID 10-Step Tutorial process in collaboration with AVID elective teachers and coordinators, including facilitating tutorials as needed, monitoring the tutorial process, provide feedback and assessment of Tutorials and TRFs
- Plan and facilitate site-based tutor orientation, quarterly debriefs, and professional learning for tutors
- Create tutorial curriculum in collaboration with AVID elective teachers and coordinators including mini lessons, community building, and structuring
- Oversee tutors and provide tutor coaching and develop systems for feedback and communication, serve as a main contact for tutors
- Communicate Tutorial plans with Elective Teachers, AVID Coordinator(s), and Tutors
- Build positive, healthy relationships of support with members, serving as a mentor
- Support AVID/TOPS students in transition into, through, and beyond high school, including curating resources and supporting student learning around college & career pathways
- Plan and facilitate classroom community-building activities
- Provide student academic support, social-emotional support, and advocacy
- Collaborate with 12th grade elective team to provide relevant information, activities, and resources for college application, enrollment, and financial aid processes
- Facilitate relevant college & career ready activities as outlined in AVID/TOPS goals
- Support curriculum design & implementation of career & leadership programming for youth
- Support external guest speakers and coordinate day of logistics in support of partnership goals & student exposure to college & career pathways
- Communicate field trip plans, chaperone field trips, and support in data collection for partnership goals
- Engage AVID/TOPS students in Boys & Girls Clubs supplemental college, career, and community readiness programming
- Serve as an active member of AVID site team and grade level teams regarding tutors, tutorials, TOPS opportunities, and other systems of communication relevant to the TOPS role
- Attend and serve as active participant in team meetings relevant to the TOPS role
- Support with AVID selection process for incoming 9th graders
- Support AVID Certification, especially Tutorial and College, Career, and Community Readiness Indicators
- Ability and willingness to work occasional evening and/or weekend hours as needed.
- Support Boys & Girls Clubs special events including Youth of the Year, College Decision Day, Move'N'Groove4BGC
- Engage in professional development and learning opportunities relevant to role
- Ability to build positive working relationships with BGCDC staff, board members, volunteers, members, partners, and stakeholders
- Intermediate level of proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, G-Suite, and Zoom
- Knowledge of youth development frameworks and understanding of the systems and structures that produce inequities that our program seeks to eliminate
- Bachelor's degree in education, social work, social sciences, or related field preferred
- A minimum of 2 years experience working in a non-profit organization, high school,
- school district, post-secondary institution
- 2 years direct service experience with youth in a non-profit or educational setting,
- preferably at the high school level
- Experience building relationships with students and staff of all ages from diverse ethnic,
- cultural and economic backgrounds
- Experience collaborating with and/or across multiple teams, or working in a community partnership model
- Preference to those with experience in equity initiatives or college readiness programs (such as AVID/TOPS, PEOPLE, ITA, College Possible, Posse, etc.)
REQUIRED HOURS This position is classified as exempt and full-time regular, requiring availability to fulfill the essential duties of the role, which may include working on holidays, weekends, and evenings as necessary. The position requires occasional travel to off-site Clubs, meetings, and events. Typical Working Hours are 8:00 am-5:00 pm daily. WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL DEMANDS Ability to read and interpret safety rules, budgets, instructions, and policy manuals. The ability to clearly and concisely exchange/receive ideas, facts, and technical information with others. Physical abilities required include bending at the waist and reaching above the shoulder to maintain files, speaking and hearing to exchange information, and dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard and other office equipment. The employee must be able to sit for extended periods. The employee will have periods of standing, walking, climbing, balancing, stooping, jumping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. The employee may occasionally lift or move up to 20 pounds. Salary Description
Salary Range $43,000-$47,000 based upon experience
