Job Details Level: Management Job Location: Beasley Forest Products Main – Hazlehurst, GA 31539 Position Type: Full Time Education Level: Not Specified Travel Percentage: Negligible Job Shift: Any Job Category: Management – Planer Mill Supervisor Position Summary Beasley Forest Products is seeking an experienced and motivated Planer Mill Supervisor to oversee daily operations within the Planer Mill department. The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising employees, ensuring production goals are met, maintaining product quality standards, promoting a safe work environment, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. This role requires strong leadership skills, operational knowledge of lumber manufacturing processes, and the ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced production environment. Beasley Forest Products is a leading producer of hardwood lumber, crane mats, crossties, pallet products, and industrial lumber serving domestic and international markets. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Supervise and coordinate all Planer Mill operations to ensure efficient production and quality output. Lead, train, coach, and develop Planer Mill employees to maximize performance and productivity. Monitor production schedules and ensure customer orders are completed accurately and on time. Ensure lumber grading, sizing, and finishing standards meet company and customer specifications. Maintain compliance with all OSHA regulations, company safety policies, and safe operating procedures. Conduct daily safety meetings and promote a culture of safety throughout the department. Monitor equipment performance and coordinate preventive maintenance activities with maintenance personnel. Investigate equipment downtime and implement corrective actions to minimize production interruptions. Track production metrics, efficiency, waste reduction, and quality performance. Maintain accurate production records, reports, and inventory documentation. Collaborate with Sawmill, Kiln, Shipping, and Maintenance departments to optimize workflow and throughput. Identify opportunities for process improvement and cost reduction.Assist with employee scheduling, attendance management, and performance evaluations. Ensure housekeeping standards are maintained throughout the facility. Perform additional duties as assigned by management. Required Qualifications High school diploma or GED. Minimum 3–5 years of supervisory experience in a sawmill, planer mill, lumber manufacturing, or related industrial environment. Strong understanding of lumber manufacturing processes and wood products. Knowledge of OSHA regulations and industrial safety practices. Ability to read production reports and analyze operational data. Strong leadership, communication, and problem‑solving skills. Preferred proficiency with computers and Microsoft Office applications but not required. Ability to work flexible hours as production demands require. Preferred Qualifications Previous experience supervising planer mill operations. Knowledge of hardwood lumber grading standards. Bilingual (English/Spanish) – Nice to have. Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. Ability to work 12‑hour shifts. Ability to work in varying temperatures and industrial manufacturing environments. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally. Ability to climb stairs, ladders, and access production equipment safely. Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
