Job Description
Join a growing team as a Fire Alarm Installer responsible for installing, maintaining, and servicing commercial fire alarm systems across construction and retrofit projects. You will use your electrical or low-voltage expertise to install, test, and troubleshoot life safety systems in a variety of commercial environments, ensuring reliable protection and code-compliant operation.
Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, and service commercial fire alarm systems on construction and retrofit projects.
• Bend, install, and secure electrical conduit, with a preference for EMT conduit, in commercial settings.
• Pull and route low-voltage and electrical cabling in commercial environments such as offices, schools, hospitals, and manufacturing facilities.
• Install and terminate fire alarm devices including pull stations, horns and strobes, smoke detectors, heat detectors, and control panels.
• Read and interpret blueprints, riser diagrams, and wiring schematics to plan and execute installations accurately.
• Perform system testing and verification to confirm proper operation and compliance with applicable codes and standards.
• Troubleshoot wiring and device issues to identify root causes and implement effective repairs.
• Diagnose and resolve problems with existing fire alarm systems, including devices, panels, and field wiring.
• Work safely and efficiently on active commercial construction sites, manufacturing facilities, schools, hospitals, and office buildings.
• Use ladders, lifts, and hand/power tools in a safe and controlled manner to complete installations and service work.
• Follow all safety procedures and use required personal protective equipment (PPE), including hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, safety boots, and safety vest.
• Collaborate with site personnel and other trades to coordinate installation schedules and minimize disruption.
• Maintain reliable transportation and adhere to site access and driving requirements.

Essential Skills

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in fire alarm, low-voltage, electrical, or a closely related field.
• Strong experience in electrical or low-voltage systems, particularly in commercial environments.
• Proficiency in bending and installing conduit, with EMT conduit experience preferred.
• Demonstrated experience pulling wire and cable in commercial settings.
• Hands-on experience installing and terminating fire alarm devices such as pull stations, horns and strobes, smoke detectors, heat detectors, and control panels.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, riser diagrams, and wiring schematics accurately.
• Familiarity with commercial construction sites and related practices and procedures.
• Experience troubleshooting fire alarm systems, including wiring and device issues.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to travel to various job sites.
• Comfort using ladders, lifts, and hand/power tools safely and effectively.
• Strong safety orientation and commitment to following OSHA and site-specific safety requirements.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• NICET certification in fire alarm systems is preferred but not required.
• OSHA 10 certification is highly beneficial for working on active construction sites.
• Experience with fire alarm system manufacturers such as Notifier, Simplex, Edwards, EST, or FireLite.
• Knowledge of low-voltage installation techniques and best practices.
• Ability to work both indoors and outdoors as needed, in varying site conditions.
• Effective communication skills for coordinating with project teams and site personnel.
• Attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills when diagnosing system issues.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining high quality standards.

Work Environment
This role is based primarily on active commercial construction sites and existing facilities, including manufacturing plants, schools, hospitals, and office buildings. Work takes place in both indoor and outdoor settings, depending on project needs. You will regularly use ladders, lifts, and a variety of hand and power tools to complete installations and service tasks. Safety is a top priority, and you are expected to be highly safety oriented and consistently follow site rules and procedures. Personal protective equipment (PPE) is required and includes a hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, safety boots, and a safety vest. The environment is fast-paced and dynamic, with coordination among multiple trades and project teams.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract position based out of Memphis, TN.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $25.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
