Production Planner

As a Production Planner, you will ensure that production orders are scheduled correctly based on demand, stock levels, and available production capacity. You will track Work In Progress (WIP) and provide status updates, initiating escalation processes for slow-moving WIP. In cases of production disruptions, you will consult with customer service to maintain on-time delivery.

Responsibilities

• Schedule production orders based on demand, stock levels, and available capacity.
• Track WIP and initiate escalation processes for slow-moving items.
• Manage escalation processes in case of production disruptions, including defects, operator shortages, and raw material shortages.
• Consult with customer service if on-time delivery is threatened.
• Track and follow up on special customer requests.
• Release raw material purchase orders based on MRP requirements and available capacity.
• Avoid downtimes due to missing raw materials while meeting inventory targets.
• Prepare and analyze various KPIs and reports, such as on-time delivery and lead time.
• Proactively define and implement actions following the PDCA loop.
• Actively participate in various meetings, including daily LPMS and weekly TOP4 meetings.
• Optimize the flow of products.
• Participate in lean activities.

Essential Skills

• Experience in production planning and scheduling.
• Proficiency with ERP systems, particularly SAP.
• Strong skills in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables and VLOOKUPs.
• Experience in manufacturing settings.
• Knowledge of supply chain management.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• 3+ years of planning experience, or a college degree in business or supply chain.
• Experience in procurement and inventory management.
• ITAR compliance knowledge.
• Flexibility with ERP systems other than SAP.

Work Environment

This role is 100% on-site, Monday through Friday, with flexible start times between 7-8 AM. The team consists of another planner, a buyer, and a shipping coordinator. Some overtime may be required, but no Saturdays. The workplace is a manufacturing setting with a smaller, older office and production floor, leaning towards an industrial environment.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Santa Ana, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $30.00/hr.
