About Mastery Founded in 2001, Mastery Schools is a public charter network of 23 K‑12 schools in Philadelphia and Camden, serving more than 14,000 students. The Opportunity The Mastery Teaching Residency offers aspiring educators—including recent graduates and career changers—high‑quality teacher training while gradually taking on more teaching responsibility over a multi‑year program. Residents start in a full‑time support teaching position with mentorship and then transition to a lead teaching role. The Elementary (K‑5) Experience Residents in elementary schools implement Mastery’s rigorous literacy and math curricula, provide small‑group instruction, and collaborate with special and general education teachers to strengthen student skills and develop their own teaching craft. The Middle/Secondary (6‑12) Experience Residents in middle and secondary schools work with a mentor teacher in their content area, receive frequent coaching, and build a collaborative, student‑centered community. Successful first‑year participants transition to full‑time lead teaching roles. Benefits of the Residency Full‑time salary and benefits in the first year as a support teacher; lead‑teacher salary and benefits in year two Extensive weekly training, real‑time practice sessions, and actionable feedback A New Jersey Teaching Certificate (depending on placement state and completion of Praxis and Basic Skills tests) at the end of Year1 A Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) at the end of Year2 from Relay Graduate School of Education or American University Subsidized tuition support from Mastery and Relay Education, Experience, and Skills Bachelor’s degree required with a record of personal, professional, and/or academic achievement Expected bachelor’s degree completion by June2026 if currently in school Official transcript required for application to Relay Graduate School of Education or American University Commitment to and experience (preferable) working with underserved communities Strong sense of professional responsibility and genuine care for students’ success Ability to motivate, support, and challenge students in a student‑centered, standards‑driven classroom Commitment to professional growth, self‑reflection, receptiveness to feedback, and a desire to continuously improve Duties and Responsibilities Provide small‑ and whole‑group instruction for academic support Attend practice sessions and an evening academic content class weekly Complete NJ teacher certification requirements and Relay academic coursework Serve Mastery’s school communities for at least three years after residency Work with lead teachers to implement curriculum, maintain routines, analyze assessment data, build relationships with families, collaborate on best practices, and ensure student mastery of standards Other responsibilities as requested Salary and Bonus Information Eligible for a $1,000 signing bonus Eligible for up to $5,000 year‑1 tuition reimbursement Starting annual salary of $49,000 for new‑to‑Mastery resident teachers Mastery’s Benefits Package Full benefits program including 403(b) retirement plan (5% match for PA employees), New Jersey Pension Plan enrollment, Employee Assistance Program, mental health counseling, annual Professional Development Fund, and various discounts and perks. #J-18808-Ljbffr
