Surgery Scheduler - Full Time- La Jolla LASIK Institute

Position Summary: We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented full-time Surgery Scheduler to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for coordinating all aspects of surgical scheduling for our LASIK/PRK, Cataract, and YAG laser patients. This role requires excellent communication skills, a strong understanding of ophthalmic procedures, and the ability to work efficiently and independently in a fast-paced environment. Key Responsibilities: Schedule and coordinate all surgical procedures, including LASIK/PRK, Cataract, YAG/Argon/SLT laser surgeries, and various corneal and eyelid procedures, ensuring optimal utilization of operating room time amongst multiple surgery centers and locations. Communicate effectively with patients, explaining surgical processes, pre-operative instructions, and post-operative care. Obtain insurance authorizations and verify patient eligibility for surgical procedures. Collect payment and arrange payment plan options with patients as needed. Work collaboratively with surgeons, nurses, and other clinic staff to ensure a seamless patient experience. Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records and surgical schedules. Address patient inquiries and concerns with professionalism and empathy. Process necessary paperwork and documentation related to surgeries. Manage cancellation and rescheduling of appointments courteously and efficiently. Adhere to all HIPAA regulations and maintain patient confidentiality. Front desk duties including answering phones, checking and responding to patients through Weave VOIP and HIPPA compliant text message Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent Bilingual in Spanish-preferred Minimum of 2 years of experience in surgical scheduling, preferably in an ophthalmology setting. Strong knowledge of ophthalmic terminology and surgical procedures (LASIK/PRK, Cataract, YAG). Familiarity with insurance verification and authorization processes. Excellent organizational and time management skills. Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal. Proficiency in general office software, paper charts and EMR. Ability to prioritize tasks and work effectively under pressure. Prior EPIC experience is a plus Bilingual in Spanish Must be willing to travel (up to two days a week) to our outside clinics in Chula Vista and El Cajon Must have reliable transportation At least 1 year of scribing experience-ophthalmology preferred but not required What We Offer: Competitive salary Opportunity to work with a highly skilled and supportive team.
