Environmental Associate

Position Overview Hunton seeks an experienced attorney to join its highly ranked, nationally recognized Environmental Law practice group as a full‑time partnership‑track associate in our Richmond, VA, Los Angeles, CA, or Washington, DC office. The ideal candidate will have at least four years of experience practicing environmental law in compliance counseling, enforcement defense, litigation, permitting, and other regulatory authorizations or agency rulemaking, with particular experience working in private practice, a trade association, and/or a government agency. The environmental team prides itself on forming diverse teams with a wide array of personal and professional attributes. We value collaboration and a team‑based approach. The successful applicant will get to work on precedent‑setting legal matters with a team that values direct client contact, mentoring and training, and will have the opportunity to work on interesting, long‑term projects with established clients. A successful candidate is dedicated to the practice of environmental law, has self‑motivation, strong intellectual curiosity, good judgment, responsiveness, perseverance, and excellent written and oral communication skills. Virginia bar membership is preferred and must be obtained within one year of joining the firm. Compensation & Benefits At the time of posting, the expected salary range for this position is $260,000 to $435,000. Actual salary offers may vary based on a number of factors, including but not limited to education, training, skill sets, licensure and certifications, practice area, experience, internal equity, and market data.
