JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking an LPN to be an integral member of the healthcare team and provide direct and indirect care to patients at the Duke Children's Creekstone Clinic in Durham, NC. Professional development opportunities include the ability to advance on the LPN clinical ladder and participate in clinic committees. This position will primarily support Cardiology and also float to support Endocrinology, Nephrology, Genetics, and Hematology services. Job Duties and Responsibilities Perform patient intake including vital sign measurements, administering survey tools, data collection, assisting patients with preparing questions for provider visits, assisting with ambulation/toileting, reviewing patient medications, providing teaching for specialty injections, and assessing knowledge of patient/family. Complete procedural tasks including administering vaccinations and medications according to standing orders and provider orders, specimen collection and correct labeling, performing EKGs and placing Holter monitors, point‑of‑care testing, assisting with clinic‑performed procedures (including ABP monitoring), obtaining manual and orthostatic BP, providing education to patient/family, billing for nursing procedures, and assisting with prior authorizations and prescription refills. Document in the electronic health record and assist with administrative functions as needed, including message taking. Monitor and initiate corrective action to maintain the environment of care, including equipment and material resources; participate in and assist with the identification of clinical or operational performance‑improvement opportunities, including performing unit audits. Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein. Job Eligibility Requirements Work requires graduation from an approved or accredited Practical Nurse program. Twelve months of appropriate clinical experience is required; at a manager's discretion, employees with 6 months of experience who are exceptional performers may be eligible for this level. Current State of North Carolina LPN licensure or Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC). BLS required. Job Schedule The schedule for this position is day shifts, Monday‑Friday, with no weekends or holidays.
