Clinical Quality And Outcomes CoordinatorThe Michigan Society of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgeons Quality Collaborative (MSTCVS QC) is a Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan (BCBSM) and Blue Care Network (BCN) Collaborative Quality Initiative (CQI) dedicated to improving the care of adult cardiac and general thoracic surgery patients across Michigan. The collaborative is a consortium of hospitals committed to sharing best practices, promoting evidence-based care, and implementing quality improvement initiatives using statewide and national clinical outcomes data.We are currently seeking a highly organized and clinically experienced individual to serve as a Clinical Quality and Outcomes Coordinator with a specialized focus on perfusion practice and outcomes. A cover letter is required for consideration and should be attached as the first page of the resume.The Clinical Quality and Outcomes Coordinator collaborates with participating centers to identify educational opportunities and quality improvement initiatives related to perfusion practice and cardiovascular surgical outcomes. The Coordinator oversees processes related to data abstraction and submission, validation, quality monitoring, reporting, and interpretation of clinical performance data collected through the PERFusion Measures and Outcomes (PERForm) Registry. The Coordinator serves as a clinical, quality improvement, and registry resource for participating centers and supports statewide efforts to improve perfusion practice and patient outcomes.The Clinical Quality and Outcomes Coordinator will have a primary appointment in the Department of Cardiac Surgery at the University of Michigan, report directly to the MSTCVS QC Program Manager, and be housed within the MSTCVS QC Coordinating Center.ResponsibilitiesThe Clinical Quality and Outcomes Coordinator plays a key role in advancing quality improvement efforts related to perfusion practice and cardiovascular surgical outcomes across Michigan. The Coordinator works collaboratively with participating centers, physician leaders, perfusion leaders, STS data managers, and quality improvement professionals to identify opportunities for improvement, support evidence-based practice, and facilitate statewide quality initiatives.Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:Develop, coordinate, and monitor quality improvement initiatives focused on perfusion practice, patient safety, and cardiovascular surgical outcomes utilizing PERForm Registry data.Monitor registry and clinical performance metrics and identify opportunities for quality improvement across participating centers.Provide guidance regarding clinical aspects of data collection and registry definitions to support accurate interpretation and abstraction of PERForm Registry variables.Conduct quality audits and data validation activities to ensure data completeness, consistency, and accuracy among participating centers.Collaborate with perfusion leaders, surgeons, clinical quality professionals, and participating centers to develop and implement quality improvement initiatives.Plan, coordinate, and facilitate quarterly statewide PERForm workgroup meetings, including development of agendas, educational content, objectives, and follow-up activities.Partner with physician leaders, perfusion leaders, and collaborative staff to establish annual objectives, educational programming, collaborative priorities, and statewide quality improvement initiatives.Serve as the primary point of contact for participating center perfusion leaders, maintaining current contact rosters and coordinating communication related to collaborative initiatives, meetings, educational opportunities, registry activities, and quality improvement efforts.Review and interpret registry findings to assess their clinical significance and implications for patient care, quality improvement, and perfusion practice.Communicate registry findings, performance reports, and quality improvement outcomes to participating centers and collaborative leadership.Assist in the preparation of annual collaborative reports, including review of key performance measures and contributions to BCBSM reporting requirements.Develop, implement, and evaluate educational content, best-practice recommendations, and performance improvement strategies that promote improved perfusion care and patient outcomes.Develop, coordinate, and advance registry initiatives, workgroup activities, process improvement efforts, and other collaborative priorities related to the PERForm Registry.Foster a collaborative environment that promotes communication, stakeholder engagement, and shared learning among participating centers.Required QualificationsBachelor's degree in Cardiovascular Perfusion, or equivalent education and training qualifying the individual for professional practice as a cardiovascular perfusionist.Minimum of 7 years of clinical perfusion experience in adult cardiovascular surgery.Demonstrated knowledge of perfusion practice, extracorporeal technology and science, and cardiovascular surgical care.Demonstrated ability to interpret registry and performance data and assess their clinical relevance to perfusion practice, patient outcomes, and quality improvement initiatives.Experience with clinical registries, outcomes reporting, or data validation activities.Experience participating in quality improvement, patient safety, outcomes improvement, or performance improvement initiatives.Excellent organizational and project management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and meet deadlines.Strong attention to detail, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.Demonstrated ability to build collaborative relationships with clinicians, administrators, and multidisciplinary stakeholders.Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams.Willingness to travel throughout Michigan and attend professional meetings and conferences.Desired QualificationsExperience leading quality improvement initiatives or serving in a quality leadership role within perfusion, cardiovascular surgery, or another clinical specialty.Experience facilitating multidisciplinary workgroups, committees, or stakeholder meetings.Knowledge of quality improvement methodologies, performance improvement frameworks, and change management principles.Experience facilitating professional discussions and presenting clinical outcomes, quality initiatives, educational content, or performance data to professional audiences.Why Join Michigan Medicine?Michigan Medicine is one of the largest health care complexes in the world and has been the site of many groundbreaking medical and technological advancements since the opening of the U-M Medical School in 1850.
