Senior Payroll Associate

Job Summary Our client is seeking a Senior Payroll Associate to join their team! This position is located Hybrid in Los Angeles, California. Duties Perform all duties necessary to timely and accurately process multi-state bi-weekly and weekly payrolls for salary, hourly, and freelance employees Process on demand payments, retroactive payments, one-time payments, taxable fringe benefits, tax adjustments and equity-based compensation ensuring compliance with company policies, contracts, and federal and state regulations Export and reconcile data from the time and attendance system Review and audit timecard data for appropriateness Review, audit, and reconcile payrolls Prepare and process stop payments, void checks, direct deposit reversals and overpayment collections in accordance with company, federal, and state regulations Assist employees and management with questions, concerns, or requests regarding payroll Interpret garnishment documents and respond in a timely manner while communicating with employees and vendors as necessary Interpret and set up withholding orders for levies, garnishments, child support and other involuntary wage assignment orders in the payroll system within the regulated period Ensure compliance with company policies, internal controls, and SOX controls Understand proper taxation of all employee payments including employer paid benefit and equity-based compensation Desired Skills/Experience 5+ years hands on payroll processing experience in the entertainment industry Payroll Org FPC or CPP strong preferred Experience with Workday Payroll strongly preferred Strong knowledge of taxable fringe benefits and processing of stock transactions Strong knowledge of federal and state payroll regulations with an emphasis on multi-state taxation and garnishments Experience and knowledge of California Labor laws Experience and knowledge of automated time and attendance systems Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills using VLOOKUP and pivots High degree of professionalism and solid ability in delivering high quality customer service and establishing/maintaining effective and collaborative working relationships Excellent judgment, analytical and problem-solving skills Ability to explain all payroll calculations and deductions to employees and all levels of management Benefits Medical, Dental, & Vision Insurance Plans Employee-Owned Profit Sharing (ESOP) 401K offered Compensation The approximate pay range for this position is between $33.00 and $48.00. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to background, knowledge, skills, and location.
