Position Summary

We are seeking a friendly, organized, and dependable Leasing Assistant to support residential leasing activities and tenant communication throughout the New River Valley.

In this hands-on role, you'll serve as a key point of contact for prospective and current tenants, coordinate and conduct property showings, assist with rental applications, and help ensure a smooth leasing and move-in experience.

The ideal candidate enjoys interacting with people, communicates professionally, and can confidently manage multiple priorities while staying organized and following through on commitments.

This is an in-person position based in Christiansburg, Virginia , requiring local travel to rental properties. The schedule offers up to 40 hours per week.

Responsibilities

• Schedule and conduct property tours and showings for prospective tenants.
• Respond promptly and professionally to phone calls, emails, and text messages from prospective and current tenants.
• Answer questions about available rental properties, leasing requirements, and application procedures.
• Follow up with prospective tenants to maintain engagement and support the leasing process.
• Assist applicants with completing rental applications and submitting required documentation.
• Coordinate move-in appointments and communicate important dates, instructions, and next steps.
• Maintain accurate and organized records of inquiries, showings, applications, and tenant communications.
• Assist with tenant concerns and maintenance requests, directing issues to the appropriate team members and following up as needed.
• Keep property owners and internal team members informed of leasing activity and matters requiring attention.
• Follow established company procedures and applicable fair housing requirements.

Required Qualifications

• At least 1 year of experience in customer service, administrative support, leasing, hospitality, or a similar customer-facing role.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a friendly, professional approach.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple appointments, inquiries, and follow-ups.
• Basic computer proficiency, including email, scheduling calendars, and data entry.
• Ability to work independently, maintain accurate records, and follow established procedures.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for traveling between local rental properties.
• Ability to work in person in Christiansburg, VA, and surrounding communities.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience in residential leasing, property management, or real estate.
• Familiarity with property management software or CRM systems.
• Experience conducting property showings, tours, or customer appointments.
• Knowledge of fair housing guidelines and rental application procedures.
• Experience coordinating move-ins, tenant requests, or administrative processes.
• Familiarity with Christiansburg, Blacksburg, and the surrounding New River Valley.

Compensation, Benefits & Schedule

Hourly Rate: $18-$20 per hour, depending on experience.
