Job Title: Environmental Service Attendant

The Environmental Service Attendant - plays a key role in maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary healthcare environment for patients, visitors, and staff. You will clean and disinfect patient rooms, common areas, offices, restrooms, and other hospital spaces in alignment with infection prevention and safety standards. By consistently delivering high-quality cleaning services, you directly support patient care, safety, and overall satisfaction within the facility.

Responsibilities

• Clean and disinfect patient rooms, restrooms, nursing units, offices, and common areas according to established procedures and infection prevention standards.
• Perform thorough terminal cleaning of patient rooms after discharge to ensure they are ready for the next patient.
• Properly handle, contain, and dispose of regulated medical waste and biohazard materials in compliance with safety protocols.
• Clean and maintain floors using mopping, sweeping, vacuuming, buffing, waxing, and other floor care procedures.
• Wash, mop, and sanitize various surfaces and areas to maintain a high standard of cleanliness.
• Empty trash receptacles, remove recyclables, and collect soiled linens from assigned areas in a timely manner.
• Restock cleaning supplies, paper products, and sanitizing materials in designated locations to ensure continuous availability.
• Follow all infection control, safety, and hospital sanitation procedures to reduce risk of contamination and ensure a safe environment.
• Respond promptly to emergency cleaning situations, spills, and patient care requests as they arise.
• Maintain cleaning equipment in good working order and ensure proper storage of tools, chemicals, and supplies.
• Report maintenance issues, safety hazards, or sanitation concerns to leadership so they can be addressed quickly.
• Maintain accurate records of completed cleaning assignments and tasks as required by department protocols.
• Provide courteous and professional customer service when interacting with patients, visitors, and hospital staff.
• Support departmental goals related to patient satisfaction, infection prevention, and regulatory compliance through consistent, high-quality work.

Essential Skills

• Previous experience in housekeeping, janitorial, environmental services, hospitality, or healthcare cleaning preferred.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment while managing multiple tasks.
• Ability to safely handle and use cleaning chemicals, tools, and equipment in accordance with safety guidelines.
• Strong attention to detail and a consistent commitment to cleanliness and quality standards.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, and perform repetitive tasks throughout the shift.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and push or pull carts as needed.
• Comfort working near cleaning chemicals and within healthcare-related environments.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately and consistently.
• Willingness and availability to work weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills to collaborate effectively with staff and respond to requests.
• Awareness of safety and compliance requirements in a healthcare setting.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Knowledge of infection prevention and sanitation practices in a healthcare environment.
• Experience with patient room turnover and terminal cleaning procedures.
• Time management and organizational skills to complete assignments efficiently.
• Customer service skills to interact professionally with patients, visitors, and staff.
• Experience with floor care and maintenance, including buffing and waxing.
• Demonstrated attention to detail when cleaning and inspecting assigned areas.

Work Environment

This role is based in a healthcare facility where you will work across patient rooms, nursing units, restrooms, offices, and shared common areas. The position involves frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping, and pushing or pulling carts throughout the shift. You will regularly use cleaning chemicals, disinfectants, and floor care equipment such as mops, vacuums, buffers, and other tools. The environment is fast-paced and patient-focused, requiring responsiveness to urgent cleaning needs and adherence to strict infection control and safety protocols. Shifts may include weekends, holidays, and occasional overtime to meet operational needs.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Pittsburg, TX.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $14.00 - $14.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
