Position Summary
Nevada Faculty Alliance seeks an Organizer to lead statewide membership, organizing, and political work on behalf of Nevada Faculty Alliance and its chapters. This position designs and runs organizing and membership campaigns, trains leaders and members, and advances the union’s legislative and political agenda across Nevada’s higher education and related sectors. The role serves the entire state, with significant work in both urban and rural communities.
Salary & Benefits
- Base salary range: $68,000 – 80,000, depending on qualifications and experience.

Required Qualifications & Experience
- Organizing experience: At least 2+ years of union or community organizing experience, preferably with education workers or public employees.
- Campaign design & leadership: Experience designing and leading membership and organizing campaigns, including planning, assessment, and execution.
- Issue expertise – Nevada faculty: Deep understanding of the issues facing Nevada faculty, including workload, compensation, academic freedom, shared governance, contingent employment, and public higher‑education funding.
- Political landscape: Broad understanding of the political landscape of Nevada, including key institutions (NSHE, Legislature, Governor’s Office), major stakeholders, and the role of unions in state politics.
- Travel & geography: Willingness and ability to travel across a broad urban and rural area within Nevada, including evening and weekend work as needed; valid driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications
Nevada organizing history: Familiarity with the history of organizing in Nevada, including prior higher‑education and public‑sector organizing efforts, major wins, and ongoing challenges.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Organizing & Membership Growth
- Design and implement internal and external organizing campaigns to grow membership and density among higher‑education faculty and other NFA constituencies.
- Coordinate membership drives, one‑on‑one outreach, sign‑up efforts, and leader development on campuses and in worksites statewide.
- Assist in preparing for bargaining through contract and issue surveys, data collection and analysis, and member engagement strategies.
Campaign Planning & Political Work
- Develop integrated campaign plans that combine organizing, communications, and political strategies on key issues affecting Nevada faculty.
- Work with NFA leadership on legislative and electoral priorities, including member education and turnout for legislative, regent, and other key races.
Training & Leadership Development
- Plan and conduct trainings for stewards, faculty leaders, and members on organizing, contract enforcement, and political engagement.
- Help build and maintain durable campus and regional leadership structures across Nevada.
Communications & Public Engagement
- Draft campaign literature, flyers, digital content, and talking points to support organizing, bargaining, and political campaigns.
