Job Title Geotechnical Engineer 2 Job Description CDM Smith is seeking a geotechnical engineer to join our Infrastructure Services team in Atlanta. Responsibilities Under general supervision, create excavation, dewatering, shallow/deep foundations, dams/reservoirs/levees, geo-environmental projects, etc. engineering designs of basic to moderate complexity to meet client project requirements. Review draft designs for compliance with federal, state and local regulations. Ensure that firm policies and practices are followed on all designs. Perform site reviews and studies, as needed, to ensure designs are aligned with location specifications, and update design requirements as necessary. Perform soil sampling analyses and modeling. Contribute to firm's TKM by developing white papers and technical design documentation of new or special case designs, studies, etc. Submit technical papers and designs for publishing to technical journals. Perform other duties as required. May create or work with a team to create a poster or other presentation material for a conference. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Geotechnical, Civil, Mining or Geologic Engineering or related discipline. 1 year of related experience. Domestic and/or international travel may be required. Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree. Preferred Qualifications Candidates with an MS in Civil/Geotechnical Engineering is preferred. Skills and Abilities Intermediate knowledge of computer assisted design and drafting (CADD) 3D and 4D software and practices. Knowledge of engineering principles of design.
